My former post should have said "east" of the plant and not "west" of the plant. Sorry.

Hey! You guys are nuts - there is no such thing as "Clean Coal" except in Bush and his Neocon friend's minds. Don't you know it's payback time for the polluters. Bush will push all the polluting stuff to pay back all his polluting contributors in the coal and oil industry and to hell with all of us who have to breathe the polluted air left behind. Those of us who live west of the plant will be breathing dirty air for 50 or so years

Also, the bottom line is nobody is going to finance the expense of CO2 sequestration so this is all whistleing in a windstorm - political BS! Also, CO2 is only part of the problem - Mercury and triox, etc, etc. and radioactive stuff will be destroying upstate NY air and Adirondack beauty. Not a problem? Then why do they put 800 ft. smoke stacks on coal plants? Come on, wake up and smell the coffee (and watch the koolade, too.)

Also, see www.stoptoquop.org for more info about a community in NV fighting a coal plant upwind of them. A lot of good info there.

Paterson and everyone else must come to realize the truth. The truth is that the "environmental" and "conservation" movements are now the domain of far-left Socialists who are hiding their real motives. And that is not a good thing.

this is a good sign from gov. paterson. he is a sensible man who realizes that new york state must do something to answer the more pressing concern of a high demand for energy and a dwindling supply. hopefully, his advocacy of sensible policies will influence others, namely those here in westchester who still oppose a certain nuclear power plant, to start seeing things in a different light. one can hope.

At least he seems to be trying, which is more than can be said for any of the rest of them up there. If he has the nerve to buck this group of do-nothings, and if he goes directly to the people with true reform, like the Great Communicator did, he might actually surprise everyone and become one of our better governors of late.
