Working Families Party Makes 143 State Endorsements

June
12

The state’s Working Families Party released its full slate of endorsements today for the November elections, picking 143 candidates to back in the party’s attempt to help Democrats win the state Senate for the first time since 1965.

As a result, the party backed mainly Democrats, but did endorse some Republicans, including Syracuse Sen. John DeFrancisco, Sen. Thomas Morahan, R-New City, Rockland County, and Sen. George Maziarz, R-Newfane, Niagara County.

The party, which it had already announced, spurned Sen. Joseph Robach, R-Greece, Monroe County, and went with his Democratic challenger former Sen. Richard Dollinger, D-Brighton, Monroe County.

Yet it didn’t back Democrat David Nachbar, a Rochester-area Democrat who is seeking to unseat Republican Sen. James Alesi. Nor did it back two Rochester-area assemblymen, David Gantt and Joseph Morelle.

The party also jumps into a Democratic primary in western New York, supporting “Baby” Joe Mesi in his bid to replace retiring Republican Sen. Mary Lou Rath.

Here’s the full list.

why should a special interest third party like the
working families party be able to cross endorse a major
party candidate…that allows for too much leverage to
the minor party..leverage to extract promises or jobs
only four other states permit this practice….new york
needs to pass legislation to prevent cross endorsements

  2. Wahoo

Agreed. But the Working Families Party? It’s just a modern name for the old Communnist Party, isn’t it?

  3. the consultant

    they are unionists…communists not…socialists yet
ie centralized goverment control of the means of produciton
and redistribution of wealth from me to them….
but I doubt they are for totalitarianism…
However whether it is the working families, IND or CONSV
parties..they are corrupting the process…because they
are interested in what they can extract from the major
party candidates….either ideologically or in other
    ways….

What’s the major difference- that they all don’t live in the same house and share toilets?

  5. Wahoo

That’s about the only difference. They are Communists in a Working Families disguise.

  6. LOU

THE WFP GOT MOST OF THIER ENDORSEMENTS RIGHT. GOOD JOB GUYS

  7. Tim Hays

    Follow the money, quid Watergate.

  8. Wahoo

Let’s guess. With Lou’s kudos above about the WF Party, it’s probably so that those Marxists endorsed the unprincipled and talent devoid flip-flopper Mike Spano.

some yokels are still living with the “fear”. probably watch reruns of hearings held by the house committee on un-american activities
