Albany has rules

Posted by: Mike Risinit - Posted in 99th Assembly District, Greg Ball on Jun 19, 2008

So I wandered over to the paper’s other politics blog, Albany Watch, and found an Assemblyman Greg Ball-related post concerning a debate about “canned shoots” and decorum toward a fellow lawmaker.

That exchange is proof enough greg deserves to be re-elected this fall.

Here here. Decorum is one thing. Tolerating horsehocky, evasive responses is another. Good for you, Mr. Ball.

So let me get this right, Greg Ball thinks it is OK to cage an animal up and allow people to shot them for sport. This is not hunting, this is animal slaughter and Greg Ball supports this. Greg Ball is an extremist who is always way to the right on all issues. Does Greg Ball support shooting dogs and cats for sport also? What kind of society do we live in?

Animals, jb. are animals; simply that. They are food.

Greg Ball is a wonderful man, a good Republican conservative who has served his country, unlike the greasy white “liberals” who are against him.

Grow up, jb, and start using your real name if you wish to be taken seriously as a man.

Me, I am Tim Hays, Historian of the Westchester Republican Party

  5. Animal Cruelty

Different people have a different definition as to what is animal cruelty….if these sportsman that pay high big buck membership fees to join these clubs to hunt in confined areas think that is sport then they are wrong. Only good thing about sport hunting is that they may be in a confined area and not shot our windows out.
Other than that, animals are raised, fed and released to be shot. Do they eat them? Ha..they mount and stuff them. The animals have not a chance to survive in this environment. This is not sport but high paid membership to shoot and kill.
These high priced clubs donate big bucks to campaigns to be permitted to continue.

Ball should observe Assembly rules but by gaining attention this way, he makes it into the news like he cares. Does Ball hunt and shoot animals in confined area? I doubt it.

  6. spend time more wisely

With the escalating school taxes, why doesn’t Mr. Ball spend his time working on a good decent rememdy to the out dates laws on school funding? The sport club hunters are a group of well funded people with time to play hunting in a fenced in area.

We need our lawmaker to spend time on helping people put gas in their car, heat their homes this winter and pay their school taxes so they can remain in NY.

Get to work Mr. Ball, not with forums to campaign but new laws on the assembly floor for discussion.

Working for six months and us taxpayers hear everything but relief. Get with the program.
Debate and resolve other more stressing issues and get something done..

But I read session is almost over, so we have to wait until next January for help?
Stay in session the entire year until you do what elected to do.

The people here commenting on what is covered by the “canned hunt” bill either know nothing about it or are spreading disinformation intentionally. And most hunters to indeed eat their catches, even if they mount inedible parts like the antlers of a deer as a trophy. (And so what if they do?)

“Canned hunt” bills are nothing more than stalking horses for restricting all hunting and the small edge of the wedge toward incremental hunting bans. Thanks, Greg Ball, for standing up to the anti-hunting lobby and animal-rights wackos.
