Clinton and coffee
You never know who you will bump into when you’re getting coffee. For my colleague, Swapna Venugopal Ramaswamy, it was Bill Clinton. Swapna spied the former president this morning in Chappaqua.
“I was headed to Susan Lawrence in downtown Chappaqua for coffee around 9:30 this morning. Spotted the casually dressed ex-prez strolling across the street, sipping coffee. I gave him a big wave and he waved back. Soon, a few more people spotted him and stopped to chat. I was still across the street when Sanjay (her husband) joined me and asked if I wanted to record this sighting.
“Mr. President, do you mind posing with my wife?,†he asked.
“Sure,†said the prez, and smiled for a close-up.
An SUV pulled up to the curb and he was gone before he could see the picture on the Blackberry. It was not the black bear (a reference to recent local bear sightings), but it was something . . . “
As an aside, Swapna has a bit of a reputation as a celebrity magnet. Here’s an example.

He’s gotten better taste in women as he’s grown more mature.
Poor Bill. If he’d had half the manners of Nelson Rockefeller, nobody would have complained.
I mean, this is a great looking woman, and Sweet Old Bill had the good judgment to be photographed with her. Unlike Paula Jones, this woman has all her teeth.
;>
I see only Bill’s teeth. Lay off the early Cuba Libres. :-)
ed: lol! No, five o’clock didn’t come early today (Bob Welch’s great autobio). But around seven, it did.
;>
Me, I would like to meet the reporter pictured here.
I’ll happily educate her about American History and Politics, in which I am considered an expert, and give her the benefit of my phi beta kappa knowledge.
Bill has geat taste. He remains one of my favorite Republican presidents. You get my drift.
Nobly yours,
Tim talks about Nelson Rockefeller’s manners. True, the ever-polite Nelson died with his boots on as in the background Gene Autry sang “Back In The Saddle Again.”
The intials “M.M.” are in this picture, and they don’t stand for Marilyn Monroe, who was long dead by that time.
Megan Marshach…However I had the pleasure of serving as
Nelson’s assistant director for youth in his 1970 gubenatorial campaign..suffice it to say that working for
the governor was one of the highlights of my political
life..traveling in his fairchild…drinking scotch
eating out every night with bixby at the cameldriver
working out of the 55th street townhouse next to
nancy McGuiness now Nancy Kissinger…and having
my next door collegue as Jackie Robinson…what
a kick! I was all of 21
Consultant—That is a good story. Nice memories. By the way, do you know anything about William Pepper? He became the lawyer for James Earl Ray later on in the ‘80s and ‘90s, but he was from Yonkers and was a Democratic party activist back in the ‘60s. He might have headed Bobby Kennedy’s Westchester campaign for Senate, and was involved later in picketing when Macy’s in New Rochelle was being built in about ‘67. Pepper later had some considerable problems.
He also had something to do with a home for troubled kids, which may have been around Mt. Pleasant in those days.
Oh! consultant and Wahoo—we have to have lunch sometime real soon!
Megan Marshak, Grant HS (North Hollywood, CA) Class of 1972, was given the fall for Nelson’s demise.
(Quick: how did Nelson Rockefeller die? Answer: “Low blood pressure: 25 over 70.”)
Does the name “Conchita Pierce” ring a bell?
EVERY responding officer received METEORIC promotions in NYPD.
Nelson, even when dead, took care of the hands that took care of him.
William Pepper was the boxer, Willie Pep’s son. The elder Pep lengthened his name to Pepper in order to add some spice to his life. After being caught up in the Salt Shaker Scandal, along with Adolph Morton and Diamond Crystal, great-aunt of the award-winning comedian of the same name, Pepper’s world was turned upside down, and he shook free of containment, escaping through various holes in the system. Pepper, although never indicted in the Kennedy scotch scandals, drank heavily and solidified himself. In his later years, he was often seen at Club 21 with Nelson Rockefeller and Bill O’Shaughnessey enjoying long, leisurely lunches and cocktails. The group was known as the “Triangular Table,” as opposed to the “Round Table” of wags that met farther uptown at the Algonquin. Pepper is perhaps best known for saying to Rockefeller when first introduced: I’m sorry, how much did you say your name was?”
ed: rotflmao!
Pepper’s defense was discredited. James Earl Ray took King out, as there was NO security at the slimy motel where he was staying. A young Jesse Jackson was MLK’s only protection.
Do we think a bunch of angry, wealthy, bigoted bad white people financed Ray?
Yeah.
Nelson Rockefeller discreetly, privately, paid for MLK’s funeral. He was saddened.
There was nothing to be gained for us simple Caucasians by the assassination of Dr. King.
I was not a Bobby Kennedy fan in 1968..but I remember
the night he was assasinated..and I remember being
really upset…for his son who was 12, and for the
nation whose choice was taken away…thats why
I always say politics should never be personal
its like arguing with your wife about the color
of the den!!!
I fear Ed is putting King’s Ransom on his cereal. I suggest you go back to milk, Ed. And it’s cheaper, for sure.
There is a lot about William Pepper that is of great interest, including his Yonkers background and connections, his involvement with that home for troubled kids in Mt. Pleasant or New Castle, and so on.
He also was accused of child molestation (probably from a Yonkers case years before in the ‘60s, and again in Rhode Island)—and he fled to England in about 1980. He then returned when the heat was off. He also tried to name a “Raoul” from Yonkers as the alleged controller of James Earl Ray. That was in about ‘95 or ‘96.
And that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Or the color of the dentist. I’ll take a talented black dentist anytime over some caucasian trust-fund amateur from Colgate.
ed, Wahoo, consultant: lunch.
I’m calling Paul Feiner to revive “On the Right” on Greenburgh cable.
By the way, I was a mile away from the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on June 4, 1968, in junior high school at John Burroughs.
That was a sad night. Forgetting my youthful Republicanism. (Actually, I was a kid, and a Republican Hubert sympathizer.)
Bobby Kennedy was the greatest political campaign manager IN HISTORY. (Joseph Kennedy, in 1960: “I’m not paying for a landslide!”)
We stay together, while disdaining the horrible white “liberals*” who infect our society.
I remember falling asleep listening to Barry Gray on the radio that night. I also was very young at that time, but was following the race. I awoke at some point and heard Bobby had been shot. Strange guy, Sirhan. Very strange.
Has anyone read William Pepper’s book, The Self-Managed Child – Paths to Cultural Rebirth”? The chapter on sex education for kids reads like a NAMBLA handbook. It’s available on Amazon.com for as low as $.01 but hardly worth it.
Though not exactly ?random?, the IBM and Westinghouse logos contain no intentional symbolism. The ?bells and whistles? were added to differentiate the logos and make them look distinctive in a wide market, though not to symbolize any of the two company?s dealings.
“Hi,”
Hmm? I read blogs on a similar topic, but i never visited your blog. I have added it to my favorites and i?ll be your constant reader.
Generally I do not post on blogs, but I would like to say that this post really forced me to do so! really great post.”
There is obviously a lot to know about this. I think you made some good points as well.
Hervorragender Artikel. Danke fuer die Hilfe.
The site has nice and unique wordpress template.
If Wahoo or anyone elsle has any more William Pepper information regarding his child molestation cases, could you please blog it at this site. You know what they say about Leopards not Changing Their Spots? It would be helpful if anyone knows in what Yonkers jurisdiction we might find court records and in approximately what year’s archives we should look. very, very appreciative if you can supply anything, or even on his Rhode Island case. We understand he was arrested on that one, stood trial but beat it. It was all over Providence Journal, but again we haven’t been able to pin down the date. We know it was before is 20 year “sabbatical”
in England. Thanx again.
some of us even don’t realize the importance of this information. What a pity.
there’s a lot of the info contained in some of these entries that might be helpful.
Thanks article – I dont normally post on blogs much but this is good article, keep up the good work, ill pass this on to my friends.
it sure is easy to tell when a “phony plant” has infiltrated a website. A STUPID one, that is.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
