First class reimbursements

July
7

Republican State Assembly candidate Bill Gouldman says America’s first responders should get the same IRS mileage reimbursement as people who drive for business.

Gouldman wants New York’s delegation in Washington to help convince the IRS to change their formula so firefighters and other first responders get the maximum mileage allowance instead of allowing them less per mile as charity givers.

“The best way for us to celebrate America’s Independence is to acknowledge those who sacrifice to keep their fellow citizens safe,” Gouldman wrote in a letter to Democratic Senators Charles Schumer and Hillary Clinton and Democratic Congressman John Hall.

Gouldman, a volunteer firefighter from Putnam Valley, is challenging longtime Democratic incumbent Sandy Galef for the 90th Assembly District seat which covers parts of Westchester and Putnam counties.

For this he issues a press release? Maybe he should reconsider and run against Schumer. The battle of banal inconsequencia. Come on, get on a topic!

  2. A Good Idea

    This a good idea.

More of our elected officials should be concerned about the people they represent.

He is on the right track.

  3. JB

Sounds like a Greg Ball clone, say what you think the people want to hear and then forget about it.

  4. 1st. Class treatment

You could be correct, lets see if Schumer, Clinton and Hall do anything about this.

Volunteer Ambulance Corp and Volunteer Firefighters throughout New York and the United States respond 7 days a week 24 hours a day.

They should get First Class Treatment.

  5. Should have been done along time ago

How come someone has not done something about this before?

  6. ed1

Why haven’t they done anything about firemen mileage adjustments? Well, the war in Iraq, $140 oil, a national recession,a crippling housing crisis, near failure of banks, a valueless dollar, an imploding health-care system, exploding school and property taxes, and other assorted minor issues.

  7. OK

ed1 – It is nice to see that you are an optimist.

  8. ed1

Pessimists are rarely disappointed. On the other hand, how about them Giants!!!

  9. Go Get Them

How come Bill Gouldman is the only Legislator or candidate for office talking about the issues. I see him outfront on many of the things that affect us in Westchester County.

Where are the federal officials on this. How come it took an Assembly Candidate to bring this to the forefront?

Why has our current elected officials not responded to the needs of the average everyday citizen in our county.

  10. What the people want

JB, If you think this is what the people want to hear, what
is wrong with talking about it. Maybe talking about issues will get them corrected

Lets see if Hall, Schumer or Clinton talk about this inequity in the system.

My guess is they will not.

ok fine. sounds good. as soon as the volunteer fire companies stop wasting taxpayer money on elaborate fully stocked bars, new gas guzzling chevy SUV’S they use is parades and all the other wasteful stuff they glut their budgets with every year. by the way do they comply with the public authority accountability act yet ? this political candidate is talking thru his you know what trying to get votes. he is as bad as the rest of ‘em.

Bill Gouldman is a lying horse’s ass.

  14. Issues

I was not aware of this. I am glad he is talking about the real issues that we all face.

  15. Bogus

What an obvious bogus post! At least put a little imagination into it. Geeesh.

  16. Conservative

Bill Gouldman obviously cares about the small details that affect have an influence on all working people including the firefighters. Nice to have someone running who is interested in everyday real issues that hit close to home. Also, one more question…Why did it take Galef so long to acknowledge that she supports a school property tax? Makes one wonder about her priorities. Bill Gouldman appears to be watching out for working class Americans.
