Skelos, Morelle Bringing In The Campaign Bucks

State campaign finance reports keep coming as Tuesday’s deadline approaches, and Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos has so far taken in the most—$391,922, according to NYPIRG’s Bill Mahoney.

Of course, most of the money for Skelos came in before he was tapped majority leader so he’s fundraising prowess will certainly rise now. But Skelos still has a nice pot of money in his coffers heading in the the election year, money that he will likely dole out to help other Senate candidates in the fall.

He’s already doing some: including $94,200 to the Senate Republican Campaign Committee on July 1 and $5,000 to Sen. Joseph Robach’s re-election campaign as he tries to fend off Democrat Rick Dollinger.

He has nearly $1.4 million in the bank, records show.

Assemblyman Joseph Morelle, who also heads the Monroe County Democratic Committee, is second on the list, so far, taking in $225,670 from January to July. He has $517,000 in the bank.

Morelle ’s fundraising is helping the county party—he transferred $20,000 to it on Jan. 27, and gave $10,000 to the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee.
