Bruno Leaving Office Friday

So it’s official: Former Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno is retiring as of Friday.
Here’s some of his statement:
“At the conclusion of the 2008 legislation session I announced I would not seek re-election this fall because, after 32 years of public service, I wanted to move on with my life, give my constituents an opportunity for new representation, and my colleagues in the Senate an opportunity for new leadership. Today I am announcing that I will leave the Senate, effective Friday, July 18th. I believe this is the right time to move forward for several reasons.”

Thanks for nothing. The only guy who did better than he did in amassing great wealth while ruining this state is Shelly Silver.
well you can criticize joe but at the end of so many
years…lets hope he hasn’t done anything to warrant
disgrace in his retirement years..I am one politician
that does not seek retribution from those with whom
I have poltical disagreements..and by the way at
one point I called on him to resign as majority leader
Well, it is not a case of retribution. It is a case, as with Silver, of much of the public noticing a strong scent of self-aggrandizement emanating from Albany at the public’s olfactory expense Do they enact and manipulate the law so that obvious tit for tat deals can be accomplished without having to properly answer for them? Not saying they’re doing anything illegal, but I harbor a suspicion that some of these pols make sure that by the way they enact statutes that apply to themselves, they are able to skirt common decency and legislative responsibility with impunity. Longevity is not an excuse for any of this, unless there is senility involved.
