Bruno Riding Off Into The Sunset
Former Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno said he expects to resign from the Senate later this week, either Thursday or Friday.
“My work is fairly well done,” Bruno told reporters after the announcement of a $1.5 billion deal with IBM today.
He said he has worked with new Majority Leader Dean Skelos to finish the transition.
“I feel like my transition is done. The furniture is moving out of my office, I think tomorrow. The pictures are off the wall,” Bruno said.
Earlier, he said during the IBM announcement that today’s announcement will be last major deal before he retires. He also took a few parting shots at former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, his nemesis.
Gov. David Paterson’s predecessor “just made life as miserable as he could make it for everybody,” Bruno said.
Bruno said, “I feel very comfortable in slowly riding off into the sunset. You watch my back.”
