A spokesman for the Republican Assembly Campaign Committee is charging longtime Democratic Assemblywoman Sandy Galef with trying to muscle challenger William Gouldman out of the race by lodging an objection to his petitions for the Republican and Conservative lines.

Adam D. Kramer called Galef’s objection “a shocking move that should send shivers down the spine of anyone who believes in democracy and the right of citizens to vote in contested elections.”

Galef of Ossining, who has served in the state Assembly since 1993, said the “general objection” gives her time to look over Gouldman’s petitions to see if there are any violations of election law.

The move is standard procedure and she would have expected Gouldman to do the same, Galef said.

Whether or not Galef decides to follow up with specific objections by Monday’s deadline, she will have a challenger in November.

Richard Quaglietta, who ran twice unsuccessfully for the Kent Town Board, is running on the Working Families line.

Perhaps someone needs to pose the question to Adam D. Kramer why it should not send shivers down every voters spine in the neighboring district represented by Greg Ball, whose staffer filed an objection over John Degnan’s petitions. Just throwing that out there…...

  2. Shameful

    Run on your record

  3. Standard Procedure

It is standard procedure if you don’t want to run on your record.

  4. Disenchanted

Well that says it all. Greg can’t run on his record.

  5. Go Gouldman

Gouldman is going to win this race. The Obama Galef ticket really sucks.

  6. Agree

It is a bad year for Republicans. But Gouldman is a hard campaigner and I do believe he will win. For Ms. Galif to be looking at his petitions tells you something. If she did not think he had a chance she would not have made this move.

Galef is running scared. The Working Families Party denied her their endorsement and instead ran a candidate of their own making this a 3-way-race. Gouldman will have the Republican and Conservative lines, Galef has Democrat and Independence and a gentleman by the name of Richard Quagliatta is the Working Famiies candidate.

Gouldman will garner plenty of support from his base and will probably get a few cross over Independents, Democrats and unaffiliated voters. Quagliatta will indubitably take votes away from Galef bringing her vote count down.

Gouldman should not be ignored. He is a formidable opponent for Galef and she knows it.

    Adam Kramer = Hippo-crite

Here’s a guy helping Republicans in other parts of the state challenge fellow Republicans petitions who want to primary. Talk about denying choice!

Tsk, Tsk Adam what would Ronald Reagen say about you…

  9. hot off press

This just in Southeast Supervisor Michael Rights who is Greg Ball’s hand picked choice for this position has been arrested for the 2nd time in a year for DWI. Greg Ball truely knows how to pick them, this is what Greg Ball wants his district to be represented by. Shame on Greg Ball for lying to the people of Southeast and telling them that Michael Rights is the right guy for the job.

  10. Somers Republican

Hot off press…This is the 2nd time for drinking and driving? There was always talk of this being Greg Balls candidate for Supervisor … to have a 2nd drinking offense in about a year or so….that is VERY SERIOUS. Sounds like this man has a problem and perhaps should seek help? You say this is Greg Balls choice of leadership????? Oh my.
