Paterson Talks Spending, Says He Gets Along With Everyone

Gov. Paterson held a news conference this afternoon in Albany after meeting with his more than 100-member cabinet that is made up of top advisers and department heads.

Paterson, who was replaced most of the executive staff of former Gov. Eliot Spitzer after Spitzer resigned, said he wanted to thank the aides and also warn them of the state’s tough fiscal times ahead.

As he did yesterday, Paterson reiterated that the state may need to cut state spending in this fiscal year, but held back from offering any specifics. He said he’s asked departments to find ways to trim spending.

    Anyone in a responsible position who gets along with everyone, is bereft, by definition, of defining principles and is always found ultimately ineffectual.
