Hispanic voters swing for Obama

Hispanic registered voters support Democrat Barack Obama for president over Republican John McCain by 66 percent to 23 percent, according to a new nationwide survey of 2,015 Latinos conducted by the Pew Hispanic Center, a project of the Pew Research Center.
The center says the poll results represent “a sharp reversal in (Obama’s) fortunes from the primaries, when Obama lost the Latino vote to Hillary Clinton by a nearly two-to-one ratio, giving rise to speculation in some quarters that Hispanics were disinclined to vote for a black candidate.
The poll found Latino voters “have moved sharply into the Democratic camp in the past two years, reversing a pro-GOP tide that had been evident among Latinos earlier in the decade. Some 65 percent of Latino registered voters now say they identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party, compared with just 26 percent who identify with or lean toward the GOP. This 39 percentage point Democratic Party identification edge is larger than it has been at any time this decade; as recently as 2006, the partisan gap was just 21 percentage points. ”

How long are Americans going to listen to the same tired mantra, that there is 12 million illegal immigrants in these United States. That might have been true 8 years ago, but not anymore. The biased media repeats these numbers over and over again? Thousands sneak across our almost unprotected border every day and you the taxpayer becomes the forced benefactor of their welfare needs.
Hispanics must remember that if they strive to become a legal resident or citizen that they too, are not going to benefit from the extra millions that illegally settled here. Two friends whose families are generations old are frustrated of being associated to the same brush. That they want to live their lives and enjoy the standard of living they have earned, their comfortable home and stay away from the simmering issue.
The same old tirade of everybody who has settled in America is just an immigrant.? The truth is that millions who have broken our immigration laws have not been processed, by THE PEOPLE’S LAWS are illegal aliens. Perhaps when Obama or McCain signs into law the path to citizenship, we will all finally know how many lawbreakers have been legalized.
The Heritage Foundation has expressed concern, by calculating that once legal, the retirement consequences for all these people and their extended families will be $2 trillion dollars. Your point about illegals is really not relevant to the
legal registered voters that the poll is talking about
you can’t vote if you are an illegal…and although
illegal immigration is a problem, apparently barack obama
is benefiting from hispanic voters which McCain thought
would be his strength based on his original immigration
position…in terms of electoral votes florida, new mexico
and texas may now be in play for the democrat

ANYWAY, the HISPANIC vote will not decide this election – unless either candidate ‘runs’ say PENELOPE CRUZ or for the ‘old fuddies’ ABBEY LANE as their VP???!!! Ha.

McCain’s greatest claim to the presidency — his overseas expertise — now seems squandered. He has appeared brittle and inflexible, slow to adapt to changes on the ground, slow to grasp the full implications not only of the improving situation in Iraq but also of the worsening situation in Afghanistan and especially Pakistan. Some will say this behavior raises questions about his age. I’ll leave those to gerontologists. A more obvious explanation is that McCain has straitjacketed himself in an ideology focused more on enemies (real and imagined) than on opportunities. “It is impossible to ignore the many striking parallels between [McCain] and the so-called neoconservatives (many of whom are vocal and visible supporters of his candidacy),” writes the Democratic diplomat Richard Holbrooke in a forthcoming issue of Foreign Affairs. “I don’t know if John has become a neocon,” says a longtime friend of the Senator’s, “but he sure has surrounded himself with them.”
Just noticed that pollster.com has McCain ahead in Arizona by only 3.5%. Just one year earlier, McCain was polling ahead of Obama by at least 20% in AZ. If the GOP isn’t worried by that, they should be. As for me, I’m just enjoying the schadenfreude.
Anyone with contacts at ICE, or who works for ICE, will tell you the true number of illegals is at least 24 million. So, yes. Enough of this 12 million bull.
For all his faults, McCain is basically even with the Antichrist in many of the credible polls. By rights Obama shoule be up by about 16 points.
Obama yesterday in Berlin was an embarrassment. Now he intends to save the entire world, not just the US. He also took shots at the US in his speech. That was poor form. Does he want to be president of Europe? As a socialist, he would fit right in over there.
The media also misrepresented that big crowd. There was a concert featuring two of Germany’s most popular acts. One played before Obama, the other after him. That kept the crowd there. The crowed was there for the free concert, and Obama was just the intermission. But most of the press didn’t report that. Dishonest.
With all these Hispanics supposedly lining up for Obama, does that mean we will be subjected to that dreadful “Macarena” again? Press one for yes, press two for no. Me, I’ll take “The Green Leaves of Summer” from “The Alamo.” Remember the Alamo? !!!
