Paterson Reportedly To Warn Of Fiscal Woes

July
28

The New York Post is reporting today that Gov. Paterson is scheduled to give a statewide address as early as tomorrow night to warn of the state’s fiscal crisis.

Paterson’s aides this morning have been mum about the plans. Neither Communications Director Risa Heller or Press Secretary Errol Cockfield have returned calls.

The article says that Paterson is expected to warn of a fiscal crisis similar to that of the 1970s.

The expected message from Paterson isn’t surprising since he’s been warning that trouble is on the horizon because of the state’s out-of-control spending for more than a decade.

By by giving a statewide address, Paterson would be giving himself a higher profile—something he will certainly need to shed the “accidental governor” that he apparently despises and to give him added exposure as he prepares to seek re-election in 2010.
