Tax Cap Brings Opponents Together — Sort Of
Support a tax cap, and even your opponents have a hard time faulting you.
That’s what is happening today as Republican Assembly candidate Bill Gouldman congratulated his Democratic opponent, Assemblywoman Sandra Galef, D-Ossining, after she told Gannett News Service that she now support a school-property-tax cap.
Gouldman (right) points out, however, that it took Galef five years to back the cap and challenged her to bring it to the floor of the Assembly.
“Before you can solve a problem you have to acknowledge that the problem exists. It has taken more than five years, but today Assemblywoman Sandra Galef has finally taken that all important first step,” Gouldman said.
“As chairwoman of the Assembly Committee on Real Property Taxes, Mrs. Galef has been the gatekeeper who decides what property tax legislation makes it to the floor of the Assembly for a vote,” Gouldman said in a statement.
“During her five years as chairwoman, Mrs. Galef has been unable to bring legislation that would lower property taxes to a vote by the entire Assembly. To make her newly declared support for a tax cap meaningful, I call upon Mrs. Galef to make a pledge to bring the property tax cap to a vote in the upcoming special session of the Assembly.”

Like Gouldman says, her support means NOTHING unless she brings the property tax cap to a vote in the upcoming special session of the Assembly.
If she doesn’t it is all words.
We are tired of our Legislators saying one thing and doing something else. It is time for action.
Do you see troble in Sandra Galef’s reelection.
Yes, and I hear treble, too, in her singing voice.
Bill Gouldman for State Assembly.
It is refreshing to see the issues being discussed.

CEO, good post. In this Assembly election I hear a lot about the issues and It is the opponent who is setting the agenda not the sitting Legislator. It is Sandra Galef who is changing her long held views.
Gouldman is running a good campaign. I see him at many public events. He is getting some media attention. More than I have seen from a challenger. He has some money behind him and his campaign literature is pretty creative. He put his picture and platform on a dollar bill, which is getting some attention. It is a good chance we will have an upset in the 90th AD next year.
CEO, I get your point and simply said Bill Gouldman is running a fair and honest campaign. He is well informed on the issues and looking towards the future for the 90th AD. I have heard both he and Sandra Galef speak and believe that Mr. Gouldman has the dedication and courage to make a difference in Albany. Just one mans opinion who is tired of the status quo and out of control property taxes. I believe that Galef is being challenged on a new level of professionalism in politics. Also, disagree with your comment #5 about right wing Republicans.
