Feld picks up PAC support

August
4

The group New Yorkers for Growth has endorsed Larchmont Mayor Liz Feld’s GOP bid to unseat Democratic state Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer. The group’s founders include John Faso, a GOP candidate for governor in 2006, and Ed Cox, who ran for U.S. Senate. It also includes Jan Van Eck, described on the group’s Web site as a Harrison resident and a principal of “Van Eck Global, a money manager that offers global mutual funds and exchange-traded funds.”

The group’s mission statement says it is “dedicated to the proposition that excessive taxes and government spending are driving jobs, people, and businesses out of New York State. NYFG will support candidates for the New York State Legislature who, regardless of party, favor and vote for 1) lower taxes, 2) reduced reliance upon debt, and 3) reform of State and local government spending practices.”

Liz Benjamin over at The Daily Politics, who noted this first, says the PAC has already given Feld $2,500.
