Iannello Keeps Hammer On Golisano PAC

August
5

Democratic Senate candidate Michelle Iannello plans to seek an an investigation by the state Board of Elections, the Attorney General’s office and the Albany County District Attorney’s office into Tom Golisano’s political committee Responsible New York.

She said she will discuss tomorrow evidence that Golisano plans to spend $1 million on behalf of her Democratic opponent “Baby” Joe Mesi in coordination with Mesi’s campaign. They are running for a western New York seat being vacated by Republican Sen. Mary Lou Rath.

She’s holding a news conference tomorrow in Buffalo.

Golisano’s camp has insisted that it has made no decision on which candidates to back, nor is working with any campaigns. They said the PAC is legal because it would be an independent expenditure on behalf of candidates—just as unions or other special interest groups spend money on races.
