Smartporpoise, is it not about time that working people should have the right and freedom to refrain from backing off with genuine comments? Not to “guild the lilly” but Mr. Gouldman really impressed me and wanted to share. Also, good to see that you are a supporter and thanks for the frankness. Point made and your candor well received. Bottom line is the deficit and Gouldman’s proven ability to control the fight in Albany.

Working Man and Conservative (as a person) sure attends a lot of political dinners and "community" gatherings for someone who is not a political person. I like Gouldman, too, but don't gild the lilly. It makes him and us all look disingenuous.

I never see Sandy Galef at any community functions? She is invited but usually a no show. Perhaps it is time Galef start attending to get more in touch with those of us who pay taxes and vote. My votes for Bill Gouldman.

I met Bill Gouldman at a community dinner over the weekend. After speaking with him I'm confident this guy is right on target. Gouldman explained his views on NY’s budget and current deficit while relating back to my pension etc. His opinions really hit home with regards to my retirement and it’s obvious he will fight for working people.

Being retired, after 30 years service, my BIG salary was 14999. My retirement is 8000. I also have to pay monthly medical co payments and there is NO prescription plan. SS pays me 72oo per year. That is a total of 15200 to live on. Welfare people get more than that !
NOT ALL PUBLIC WORKERS MAKE THE BIG BUCKS.

Pensions for business employees are a thing of the past.
My pension = $0.00. If I was a state employee, I would be retired collecting half of my salary. I WOULD BE DANCING ON CLOUD 9. Instead, I have to work 20 more years and hopefully collect a little social security.
Cat food here I come!!!

State pensions after 25 years are half pay.
ELECTED OFFICIALS are also member of this system. How about stopping ALL THE PERKS such as cars, fuel reimbursement, hotel reimbursement for elected officials?????? they make big bucks, get retirement and health insurance. Why not add all of them into the mix. All we hear are about the civil service workers...about time to go after all the administrators and elected officials that ALSO GET THE BENEFITS.

Early retirement? So, a state worker making a fat $100k a year retires and then gets $100k a year pension for NOT working. Maybe NY should cut pensions. Of course there would be a riot. But, the rest of GET NO PENSION AT ALL. Only gov't employees receive pensions. There pensions are worth millions of dollars and they suck us dry.

The Medicaid system must be Revamped. In the New York Post on Monday,4,2008 there is an article on page 2 that says that an audit was done and they determined that nearly 30,000 people in NYC alone were improperly on the state's Medical rolls from November 2006 to November 2007, even while they were enrolled in Medicaid programs of other states.

Auditors from state Comtroller Thomas DiNapoli's office found that in one year alone, $30 million was spent on Medicaid services for city residents living out of state.

It was not clear whether the ineligible ex-New Yorkers were receiving money from two states or filled only in New York because it pays more.
