Governor Patterson would rather cut the SUNY budget so that low and middle-class students can't afford to attend college. I'm totally opposed to giving corporate welfare to big companies to retain jobs in NYS. This company in particular is holding NY state hostage. The company received the better deal. They get the $140 million and pledge to keep the 1400 jobs until year-end. Giving $140 million in NY state tax payer money to a company that had record profits in the second quarter is ludicrous. If NY State wants to give taxpayer money away, then they should have negotiated a better deal for job retention. The Governor should have included all of NY State where this company has facilities.
