Hop the “tax cap express”

Posted by: Liz Anderson - Posted in Albany, Anthony Pilla, Greg Ball, Jim Faulkner, property taxes, Rob Biagi, Robin Yess, taxes on Aug 15, 2008

The Westchester County Republican State Assembly candidates are headed to Albany next Tuesday on the “Tax Cap Express”, described as an “eco-friendly diesel bus” taking the pols and would-be pols to lobby during the governor’s special emergency session.

The bus plans to pull out at 7:30 a.m. from the front lawn of a citizen-to-be-named-later, described by Assemblyman Greg Ball as “a Yorktown resident concerned with the ever-increasing property tax burden.”

“Upon arrival at the State Capitol, the delegation and their supporters will be joined by members of the Assembly Republican Conference to rally along the East Steps of the capitol building and for a press availability.”

Expected to be on board are Ball; Rob Biagi, candidate for 91st Assembly District; Bill Gouldman, candidate for 90th Assembly District; Anthony Pilla, candidate for 88th Assembly District; Jim Faulkner, candidate for 93rd Assembly District; and Robin Yess, candidate for 101st Assembly District, according to Ball’s press advisory

  1. TAX CAP

This tax cap needs careful review with some modifications. Giving any school district the freedom to automatically raise taxes 4% WILL NOT REDUCE SCHOOL SPENDING AND TAX BILLS WILL ALWAYS INCREASE. Add to that 4% the other items that are excluded. For example, special education is has many mandated expenses and that could be an additional percentage. Transportation as well can add to the increase, expecially the bussing for sports and extracurricular trips. Any capital projects repayments on bonds for future renovations/buildings will be costly as the industry costs are going up rapidly.

With out a taxpayer vote, we could end up with increases over 5% easily. This cap will NOT cap your taxes at the current rate and we can expect yearly increases.

there needs to be modifications and some income qualifying statue added to this cap or everyone will be taxed out of NY even with this cap.

Assembly Legislators are jumping on this particular proposal as it is an election year and they ALL WANT TO TAKE CREDIT.

Hmmm. Is there anyone on board this bus? I doubt it.

  3. Somers Republican

Ride the bus along with Ball…so Ball can say he organized this…...as a media event to gain votes? Rather walk.

  6. The Voice of the Majority

Join onto the DOUBLE TALK EXPRESS!!!

“We want to cut your taxes”...but we’ll raise ‘em 4%

“We’re for less spending”...but most of us voted for the 2008-09 state budget.

“We’re for the little guy”...but we leave Big Oil alone when fuel costs go up

PHONY BALONEY – DOUBLE TALKERS – led by

The Phony Express is on the way, a campaign ploy by Assemblyman seeking re-election. When a fraud is on going, one can expect Greg Ball to be involved.
