President Carter to speak in Denver

Former President Jimmy Carter will be an opening night speaker Monday at the Democratic National Convention in Denver along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper.

The featured speaker that night will be Michelle Obama.

Other speakers Monday include several Obama friends and family members as well as union leaders and lawmakers from Chicago and the state of Illinois.

Among them: Barack Obama’s sister Maya Soetero-Ng, , Michelle Obama’s older brother Craig Robinson, Barack Obama’s mentor and longtime friend Jerry Kellman, Illinois Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., Illinois SEIU President Tom Balanoff, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulis and Chicago City Clerk Miguel del Valle.

    Glad to hear this. Carter has been a great example since he left office with his work for Habitat for Humanity and other causes.
