Tax cap, yea or nay.

August
19

State Assemblyman Greg Ball, R-Patterson, is “twisting the truth” with his latest robo-call, his challenger, Republican John Degnan, said this afternoon.

In the recorded message, which seems to have hit phones today, Ball says Degnan does not favor a tax cap. To back up his point, Ball plays a snippet from last week’s debate with Degnan, who does indeed say he doesn’t favor a tax cap. You can see it in a YouTube video posted by Ball’s campaign, which was highlighted in an email sent out today by Ball.

But, at the debate Degnan goes on to immediately say he favors a tax cut, explaining he doesn’t think the cap does enough to reign in spending. So, call it truncating the truth.

“It’s (the tax cap) not a bad thing but it’s certainly not a solution,” Degnan said today. “Tax cuts are in order and the way we fund our schools need to be reviewed from our foundation, up.”

  1. Typical Ball

    My name says it all!

  2. Somers Republican

The tax cap is not the total way to solve taxes. Giving districts four percent across the board is not the answer. There must be other incentives for taxpayers besides giving distirct free rain up to 4%.

Degnan is right that there needs to be tax cuts. As ususal Ball is putting his own spin and twisting words. SO TYPICAL BALL TO DO THIS.

Come on people, Ball is out for Ball and not us taxpayers.

  3. Re:

The tax cap is also indexed against inflation, so some years there would only be a 1.8% cap, etc.

I can’t see any reason why we would not want to enact a cap to reign in spending until we can redo the entire tax system.

Typical Greg Ball, play cut and paste the words from a debate. If Ball would have let the tape roll, the public would have heard Mr. Degnan’s full position which he goes on to say he supports “a tax cut”.

    Greg Ball is a fraud.

  5. dish it out but....

Looks like degnan just showed that Ball got under his skin. Let’s be honest here Degnan has been taking hits at Ball all campaign and now Degnan can’t take it? So Degnan can dish it out but he can’t take it… What an empty suit!
This man is a joke for a canidate.

  6. Peekaboo

Ball got caught in another lie. Ball is the fraud. Ball is the one taking cheap shots against an honorable man.

Ball has got to go for good.

  7. Disappointed

How can anyone be so ignorant as to not be totally insulted by these ridiculous tactics to distort the truth???
