How To Celebrate A Budget Victory? Head To The State Fair

August
21

That’s what Gov. Paterson did today after receiving wide praise for getting the state Legislature to approve $427 million in spending cuts this week.

Paterson was hailed by lawmakers, Democrats and Republicans, for bringing the Legislature back during the campaign season to cut the budget to deal with a $630 million funding gap this year.

So he went to the State Fair this morning to open the event. (left)

He also went to Cortland for the opening of the Clocktower Building on Main Street.

$630 million gap? The gap isn’t 630 mil, it is ENORMOUS. These cuts are cuts to PROPOSED ADDITIONAL SPENDING. The State will STILL spend boatloads of more money this fiscal year than last fiscal year – and with a tide of red ink and a storm of less income. Where is the cutting? Still smoke and mirrors, friends.
