Davis Creates New Party To Ensure Place On Ballot

August

From AP:
(Buffalo-area millionaire) businessman Jack Davis says he’s created a new political party to guarantee himself a spot on the ballot in the 26th Congressional District in western New York.

Davis says he still expects to win the Democratic primary over Iraq War veteran Jon Powers and lawyer Alice Kryzan, but created the “Save Jobs and Farms Party” to ensure he will be on the ballot even if he doesn’t.

Davis, announcing the party in suburban Rochester Thursday, said his campaign presented 7,000 petitions to the Board of Elections.

Powers’ campaign manager John Gerken accused Davis of being more concerned about himself than primary voters.

The congressional seat is up for grabs with the retirement of Republican Tom Reynolds.

The Republican candidate is Christopher Lee.
