Obama Gets Small Bounce From Convention

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Sep 02, 2008

A USA Today poll this morning found that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama received a four percentage point bounce after the Democratic convention.

Obama leads Republican John McCain 50 percent to 43 percent among registered voters, according to a poll taken Saturday and Sunday. In the USA TODAY Poll taken Aug. 21-23, the Illinois senator held a 4-percentage-point lead.

But the Democratic National Convention did boost Americans’ views of Obama as a strong leader who “shares your values” and can manage the economy and Iraq, the paper reported.

The poll found that McCain’s advantage in handling terrorism has shrunk and his “unfavorable” rating grew to its highest level this year.
