More on voter interest

Voter interest in the 2008 election is up nationwide, according to the latest USA Today/Gallup poll conducted Friday through Sunday.

Eighty percent of those surveyed said they are following the election “quite a lot’’ compared to 74 percent in mid August and 70 percent in mid July.

The previous peak was 76 percent who were surveyed several days after the Super Tuesday primaries on Feb. 5.

The February poll found 18 percent of voters were following the election “only a little.’’ That category is now down to 15 percent.
