Another Blow to Soares

September
11

Albany County District Attorney David Soares, who was heavily criticized for his investigations into the Troopergate scandal, has now had another case turn against him, the Associated Press reports.

A judge today has dismissed an indictment Soares brought against operators of an Orlando pharmacy in his steroids investigation. Soares has been knocked in the Albany area for leading a national steroids investigation when it appeared to have little at all to do with the Albany area.

Last year Soares busted up the Orlando pharmacy, which has been linked to numerous professional athletes. The bust has led to 14 convictions, but apparently not this time.

Soares, a Democrat, is running for re-election in the fall against Republican Roger Cusick.

From AP:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A New York judge has dismissed an indictment against five operators of an Orlando pharmacy targeted by Albany County prosecutors in an investigation of illegal steroid sales.
Albany County Judge Stephen Herrick faults the way prosecutors presented the case involving Signature Pharmacy to a grand jury. He dismissed the indictment against owners Robert “Stan” Loomis and Naomi Loomis, pharmacist Michael Loomis, and former business managers Kirk Calvert and Anthony Palladino.
Herrick says the integrity of the grand jury proceedings was compromised by “the amorphous quality of the evolving indictments” and prosecutors’ inadequate instructions to the jurors.
Since a February 2007 raid, 14 other people have pleaded guilty to drug and conspiracy counts.

This baboon is still yapping? These pompous fakers spend more time picking out suits and ties at Brooks Brothers than they do studying the law.

...... and of those 14 convictions- most should be overturned since the bigger umbrella issue of Signature Pharmacy was deceitful and misrepresented. Most of the 14 just crumbled from the strongarm tactics threats and lies the investigators use to get a person to accept a guilty plea. Most do not have the $ for appropriate counsel and just fold. I WANT MY TAX DOLLARS BACK FOR THAT FIASCO- ALBANY WASTING MY $ TO GO TO ORLANDO- ALL SELF SERVING TO SOARES. MAYBE THATS WHERE ALL THE MISSING MONEY WENT TO THAT HE IS NOW BE INVESTIGATED FOR. What goes around comes around. Just like he did to those 14- your GUILTY till you prove your innocence. not vice versa.
