Obama has Westchester office

Posted by: Gerald McKinstry - Posted in Barack Obama, Uncategorized on Sep 19, 2008

Supporters of Barack Obama have a place to rally and organize local campaign efforts in Westchester. An office will open Sept. 24 at 931 E. Post Road in Mamaroneck. The office is sharing space with state Senator Suzi Oppenheimer.

“The national campaign has understandably decided to spend its valued resources elsewhere, rather than in New York” said Ashley Craig, coordinator of the Westchester effort. “But so many people here in our county want to work on the Obama campaign. So we have decided to launch our own ‘unofficial’ headquarters.”

Craig said people can help make calls, canvass nearby “battleground states” and help get the vote out. Anyone interested may contact the local office at 914-630-0617 or email westchester4change@gmail.com.Local events can be found at www.NYobama.com.

What does “unofficial” mean? Is the office supported by the Obama campaign? Is it (would volunteers be) in communication with campaign staff? Do you know of any “official” offices in Westchester or Manhattan?

    thanks.
