Alesi’s New Ad: “A Passion For Service”

Sen. James Alesi, R-Perinton, Monroe County, is up with a new television ad in his re-election bid against Democratic challenger David Nachbar.

The ad focuses on Alesi’s support of property-tax relief for homeowners and the elderly, though doesn’t specifically mention his early support for a tax cap, which Senate Republicans approved in early August.

The ad has similarities to Nachbar’s first ad, and like Nachbar’s ad, it doesn’t mention the opponent.

Alesi’s ad was produced by Impact Communications, former state and county GOP Chairman Steve Minarik’s firm.

The Alesi-Nachbar race is one that even some Republicans have remarked could be one to watch, even with the district being solidly Republican. Nachbar, a former Bausch and Lomb executive, has pumped at least $175,000 of his own money into the race, yet so far state Democrats have only put $12,652 into his campaign.

Alesi hasn’t received any money yet from the Senate Republican Campaign Committee, but he was sitting on a comfortable $508,044 in his campaign coffers as of July.
