Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said his office today settled with magazine seller MagsForLess.com because the Manhattan-based company wasn’t providing the subscription or promptly providing refunds to customers.
Cuomo said the company now must improve its Web site and ordering process, provide full refunds to consumers who never received magazines, and pay $100,000 in penalties.
So far, the company has paid more than $350,000 in refunds to consumers, Cuomo said.
“Online sellers cannot hide from their obligations to consumers,†Cuomo said in a statement.
MagsForLess.com is also known as HalfPricedMags.com, SnappyMags.com, AlmostFreeMags.com and My1Mag.com, is owned and operated by Joel Simkhai of New York City.
The AG’s office said it received more than 500 complaints from consumers.
