Former Larchmont firefighters come out against Feld

Last year, Larchmont mayor Liz Feld and the village board voted to place Richard Heine as a paid chief to oversee its fire department. The decision didn’t sit well with many of the department’s volunteer firefighters and 19 of them quit as a result.
Now, some of those former firefighters have launched a Web site opposing Feld’s state senate run. The group says Feld was “wreckless” with the paid chief decision and did so against the village’s interest.
(To be fair, it should be noted that the village has won two lawsuits over its decision to hire a paid chief).

This is just one of the many examples of how Liz Feld has mis-handled government responsibility. Because of this, Larchmont taxpayers have to pay for a fire chief ($131,000+fringe benefits and taxpayer-funded SUV) and she awarded $35,000 to to each paid firefighter (17×35k=$595,000). There was no reason to fire the volunteer fire chief.
But this is gov’t by secret. According to the site, she kept the plan to fire him a secret until 6 days AFTER the village election. The money comes out of a contingency budget that doesn’t show up in the public budget. Nice. I can only imagine (with horror) what she’d do as New York State senator.
