Latimer: ‘No’ to commuter tax

Posted by: Gerald McKinstry - Posted in 91st Assembly District, George Latimer, Rob Biagi on Oct 07, 2008

With some talk of a return of a commuter tax, Westchester lawmakers are speaking out against it.

Assemblyman George Latimer, a Democrat representing the Sound Shore, said it’s wrong to place additional burden on the shoulders of “people already struggling with high property taxes.”

“I will work against, and vote NO on any proposed commuter tax. It is a matter of intrinsic fairness that we should not be asked to pay a disproportionate share of the costs of the MTA.”

Latimer is running against Rob Biagi, a Republican, in the 91st Assembly District.

County Executive Andrew Spano, a Democrat, has also said he’s against a commuter tax as have Republican members of the county Board of Legislators — George Oros, R—Cortlandt, Gordon Burrows, R—Yonkers, and James Maisano, R-New Rochelle.

He’s against a commuter tax; he’s just in favor of taxes generally.

Gee even when a Democrat agrees with you, he’s wrong.

Thankfully, the 20 of you bloggers do not represent the majority of the people. OUT WITH CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS IN 2008 – we’ve had enuff of you all!

I don’t care which party he belongs to. Ron Tocci was a Democrat who kept taxes down. This guy is a poster boy for gluttonous unions and taxation.
