Oppenheimer gets ‘A grade’ on environment

Posted by: Gerald McKinstry - Posted in Uncategorized on Oct 08, 2008

State Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer, D-Mamaroneck, received high marks from EPL/Environmental Advocates group. According to the group’s web site (and her campaign announcement) she earned  a 90, above the 85 senate average for Democrats. The score is based on votes cast on environmental matters that are supported by Environmental Advocates of New York. Last year Oppenheimer received a 96.

“Senator Suzi Oppenheimer has consistently received high marks in EPL/Environmental Advocates annual Voters’ Guide, with an average score of 91 for the last decade. This year is no exception. With a score of 90, the Senator received an ‘A grade,’ placing her among the New York State Senate’s top green scores,” said Rob Moore, EPL/Environmental Advocates Executive Director. “Senator Oppenheimer also supported the environmental community’s priority Super Bills for 2008, which include measures to protect the state’s wetlands, expand New York’s bottle deposit law, cut our contributions to climate change pollution, and update the state’s net metering policies.”

Oppenheimer is running against Larchmont Mayor Liz Feld in the 37th state Senate District, which includes New Rochelle, Rye, and White Plains, and the Towns of Harrison, Mamaroneck, New Castle, North Castle, Ossining, Rye and Scarsdale.

Right. Nice trees around here. Good job. Now do something to prevent the state from falling into bankruptcy.

It must kill this paper to write nice things about Oppenheimer. Do you get your news from the wire or directly from Skelos’s office?

Oppenheimer is in the minority party. So any whining about how high our taxes are should go to the Republican/ Conservatives, who’ve been screwing us for years because we’ve become a Democratic district.

Despite that, Oppenheimer has been bringing back money as best she can, through STAR and $200 million in aid to our schools. We are actually the highest recipients of STAR in the state, thanks to Suzi Oppenheimer.
