CSEA endorses Oppenheimer

Posted by: Gerald McKinstry - Posted in Uncategorized on Oct 16, 2008

The Civil Service Employees Association, or CSEA, endorsed State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer, D-Mamaroneck, for re-election. The union represents 265,000 employees across New York State.

“Senator Oppenheimer’s commitment to public employees, especially in education, has ensured that the residents of Westchester County have received outstanding services that increase the quality of life for everyone,” Region 3 President Billy Riccaldo said in a statement announcing the endorsement. ”Sen. Oppenheimer has always been attentive and energetic to make sure that needed services are provided by qualified and talented employees.”

Oppenheimer, a Democrat, is running against Larchmont Mayor Liz Feld, a Republican, in the 37th state Senate District, which includes New Rochelle, Rye, White Plains, Harrison, Mamaroneck, New Castle, North Castle, Ossining, Rye and Scarsdale.

“energetic and attentive to her buttered bread, not to the benefit of the taxpayers she supposedly represents. Some things never change.

Just for your OWN edification, it is NOT true that this guy is somehow related to THE Charles Keating of the Keating 5….better check your facts before you post rubbish and gossip. You’ll look like one of the childhood “gossip game” participants.

Of course they endorsed her. But what about we taxpayers?

I have an idea! Let’s pay absolutely NO taxes!! Yeah! Screw those civil servants. Who needs teachers? Or libraries? Or garbage pickup? I think we should go on strike…no taxes no where!

I’ll bet good money that anon and the overburdened taxpayer are not civil servants, a noble and much maligned line of work.

Servants should serve the canapes, not eat all of them before the guests arrive.

    HEY – HEY – HEY Republi-clowns…

YOU messed up by going into an unnecessray war and planning it badly for the first four yerars until “The Surge”
YOU messed up Federal response to Katrina
YOU messed up the coutnry’s financial system with no regulation of the wildcats on Wall Street
YOU did nothing to give us a real energy policy for 8 years

Enuff of yer Democrat-bashing. The blog is filled with the sound of ultra-conservatives wailing because the voters may be fed up with them (finally) and trying the Democrats in power. Did you think you should be rewarded for the utter incompetence of “W” and the snarky, lobbyist-drive Congress of Tom DeLay (yeah, trying to blame pelosi and Reid for 19 months of what YOU did over 12 prior years).

If you had done good work when you ruled the roost, you wouldn’t be in the soup now.

Westchester has high taxes because traditionally state-funded costs have, over the years, been foisted onto our local school districts. The Democratic Assembly and the Republican Senate are the ones responsible for that. Plain and simple. A

At least Oppenheimer has a plan to cut taxes, not this dumb tax cap idea. What good is a 4% property tax cap? Our PARED-DOWN (from 9%) budget was 5.7%, I believe.

Why not vote to flip both houses and get rid of Silver and Skelos-Bruno in one swoop?

I really don’t understand the starve the beast (gov.) mentality, tho. If we cut teacher pay and benefits, what talented person would take the job of teaching our kids how to handle this tumultuous century? I for one, would not scrimp on that. As Obama says, use a scalpel, not an axe.

Tumultuous CENTURY? How about tumultuous classroom? The reason we have to pay our teachers so much in the inner city is that they’re forced to act as unarmed cops more than teachers, and it’s hard to find people who choose to do that unless the bucks are large. Some suburban schools are another thing altogether. There, we pay many Ichabod Cranes double what Einstein made at Princeton.
