Voters Turning Away From Supporting Term Limits In NYC

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Oct 21, 2008

New York City voters are starting to sour on extending term limits so Mayor Michael Bloomberg can run for a third term, a Quinnipiac poll today says.

By a 51 percent to 45 percent margin, city voters oppose extending the eight-year term limit to 12 years. A poll earlier this month found that 54 percent to 42 percent lifting the term limits.

So many the latest poll is good news for Tom Golisano, who was in Manhattan yesterday to say he will put his money into an ad campaign to opposed term limits.

To that, Bloomberg said, “If he spends a lot of money in New York City, I think it’s wonderful. The advertising business isn’t that good at the moment.”

Still, the poll found that voters approve 75 percent to 20 percent of the job Bloomberg is doing.

  1. the consultant

bloomberg has done a great job.having said that
the only way to overturn term limits is to do
it by referendum..ie let the voters decide whether
or not they want to reverse their original decision.
doing it any other way subverts the process
