That’s Nov. 4 in Spanish

Posted by: Susan Elan - Posted in 2008, Andrew Spano, Uncategorized, Westchester County on Oct 31, 2008

A notice in Spanish from the Board of Elections to some Westchester County voters contained the wrong date for Tuesday’s election.

Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano said the county would make calls to voters in Cortlandt, Mamaroneck, Mount Kisco, Peekskill and Scarsdale who received a mailing in English and Spanish about the availability of ballot marking devices. Only the Spanish part of the notice contained the typo.

Residents in those communities should receive the calls by tomorrow, Spano said. Additional calls will be made to other communities if it is determined that mailings went to them too.

“We are certain that by now everyone knows that election day is on Tuesday, Nov. 4, but we wanted to do everything in our power to correct the error and make sure there is absolutely no confusion,” Spano said.

Why not spend another ten million calling every idiot in Westchester and tell them to put their shoes on before they leave the house.

County Government! I can understand it was a mistake and not done purposely, but what was the point of that. I have to believe that when things like this are done they are discriminating against ALL nationalities. Did they send this form to Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Albanian or French speaking households? NO! Why send it to Spanish speaking. You are in America! Learn the language or kindly get back on the plane or head back to the borders! Enough with spending extra money because some people wish not to learn the language or don’t feel they should!

Ed, if Andy Spano proposes that, it’ll be YOUR fault.

I hope I don’t give him any ideas, Walt. Next, the County Board will pass a bill saying that shoe manufacturers have to list calories on the inside of the tongue to protect those with a habit of putting their foot in their mouth from ingesting excessive leather.

keep in my mind, westchester county board of elections is the dumping ground for political patronage, the employees including the commissioners are proof that evolution can go in the reverse.

Indeed. Anyone seeking proof? – All one needs to do is to research the backgrounds of all these people.

Doesn’t anyone proof read these notices. The numbers are the same in both languages. Somebody should be accountable.

Here goes taxpayer $ down the drain again. Does anybody care… We’ll need another bailout soon…

It sounds like you are gathering lots of different ideas in your blog. This is great stuff.
