Keith Olbermann responds to SNL sketch
Saturday Night Live skewered Tarrytown native Keith Olbermann over the weekend, prompting John McCain’s campaign to praise the sketch for its over the top portrayal of Olbermann.
Olbermann fired back to Time magazine saying “Honestly, everybody deserves a laugh but if on the weekend before the presidential election they spent more than seven seconds bothering with ME, the campaign staff has even less of a clue than I thought.”
Olbermann then went on to tease this tidbit on his Countdown show on MSNBC tonight:
“One last SNL thing: I’ll be reporting the details on this tonight. ask them why Governor Palin didn’t say her first line as scripted three shows ago. As they pulled back from the monitor shot of Tina doing the impression she was supposed to compliment Tina. Could’ve been a real rehab to her image – why’d she refuse?”
If you’ve never watched Olbermann’s show before, he’s known for his ranting commentaries, often comparing politicians to dictators and demanding their resignations. Check out actor Ben Affleck impersonating him on SNL below:

Olbermann is an atrosity. It is not that he is over the top, that is just entertainment. It is not that he is opinionated, that is expected. It is that he lies. Many many outright lies designed to anger his base of far left looneys. Mr. Olbermann does more to incite division and acrimony between the left and right than any other host on television. He really doesn’t care as long as he gets to be on TV. He is truly the most despicable host around and has sunk the MSNBC news organization into a tailspin of partisan hatred. MSNBC is no longer a news organization, but simply a joke.
This guy Olbermann needs a lobotomy with a hammer and chisel.
Enjoy the election. Only four more (eight) years of a Democrat majority.
He’s not any worst than O’Reilly and Limp’baugh ha ha ha He’s actually funny
Keith Olbermann is the best things that ever happened to free speech. His highly intellectual 10 minute commentaries don’t even offset the 24 hour propaganda channel which is FoxNews (the antithesis of fair & balanced). This is why the SNL sketch was over the top, because Keith is calling out those elected officials that are abusing their powers rather than serving the good of the people. SNL only did the sketch as a favor for McLame coming on the show & giving them the ratings they’ve been lacking. They’ll go back to abusing McInsane after this election. Look at Letterman…
Olbermann is an idiot, and, if he every looks in the mirror, he knows it.
As opposed to the tabloid trash that is O’Reily and the other numbskulls on Fox. Please.
I think Olbermann is awesome. He says it like it is with no fear. My favorite all time moment was when he told Bush to “shut the hell up”, lol.
Olbermann is so far in the camp of Obama that he should wear a bumper sticker on his forehead. Matthews as well.
I stopped watching the MSNBS when he and Chris Matthews essentially demanded that the primaries be halted back in February/March.
Not since the 1968 campaign have the late primaries had any impact on the selection process. Rarely before 1968 have they had any influence. Once in history the citizens of these states are given a say and Olbermann worked hard to shut them up.
In this primary cycle these states had a voice, they had an important role to play so Keith and Chris started SCREAMING to end the primaries. Demanding that Hillary end her quest. After all what DOES she want?? (ummm to win..)
They were well aware that this drum beat would influence the following primary which was their intention, of course.
As we all know after 1980 the networks no longer announce the election results in the East until the polls close in the West due to the undue influence that the early “news†had on the number of people who go to the polls. This is the same with anchors screaming every single night that it’s over, when it was not over.
Knowing this Matthews and Olbermann started early and often to end the Clinton threat. They invited guests every night who eagerly agreed that this was beyond absurd Clinton was nearly a traitor for even thinking of continuing her campaign. What on earth did she want they all asked each other every night?
They certainly had some effect. For Olbermann to be surprised that he offends some is a joke he knows what he does and he doesn’t care. I frankly don’t think that he or Matthews truly respect elections at all. If they did they would not have influenced the election and make no mistake about it, that was what they did, and it was premeditated.
GEE I LOVE LISTENING TO MATTHEWS..I LIKE TO SEE HIM
SPIT AT HIS GUESTS…HA!
The funny thing is—the sketch wasn’t all that over the top. It was funny because it was too CLOSE to reality.
Anyone for organizing a grass roots effort to help MSNBC with Olbermann’s resignation? A well-organized effort could make a real difference and get rid of the biggest piece of garbage on TV today.
If he were real he’d be his own worst person each and every time.
Let us UNITE>>>
Olbermann is a sputtering loon. No thinking person could take his “commentary” seriously.
Olbermann is often funny, frequently over the top, and occasionally brings up issues that nobody is talking about. After years of the radical right ruling the radio airwaves and cable TV, there is finally a successful show from the left. While I trust the BBC more, I appreciate Olbermann for fighting back. Unlike Fox and O’Reilly, he also doesn’t hide his political perspective. Meanwhile, O’Reilly lashes out at someone who calls him a conservative. He isn’t???? Please, be honest about it.
Oh, the sketch was hilarious! Keith should be proud…
Kieth Obermann is so full of hate it seethes and fogs his glasses! He’s a hateful liar and the truth would give him a coronary.
Olbermann is a broken-down ex- sportscaster who, in switching to politics, thinks he has found a more profitable (to himself) blood sport.
I love Keith’s show—and this spoof was brilliant. So nice to see a SNL host who can carry off a segment, and nods to the writers.
Keith calls ‘em like most of the country sees them. If the right is unhappy that Keith is eating into Billo the Clown’s demo, that’s just sour grapes.
The Reagan era and its failed policies is finally over—GET OVER IT!
Olberman is the Dem response to Limbaugh and Hannity. O’Reilly as well. FOX has been running with that crowd and Ingraham and Coulter for years with no real response. As long as you know Keith’s bias you can watch him just like you can watch Hannity once you realize he is a 24 hour campaign machine for the GOP.
Everyone needs to know the bias and take the show for what it is. O’Reilley uses his show as a front for his entire ideology. Funny when someone from another network other than FOX does this they get called out. Oh well that is the double standard of the world.
There was a time I watched MSNBC regularly… but no more. Matthews and Olbermann, and particularly Olbermann, slowly pushed me away with their consistent arrogance and condescending manner.
Other than O’Reilly, who tends to get a bit over jazzed and rude with his guests, I’ve never seen anybody get so exercised and vicious like Olbermann does. Recently I saw him with Bob Costas on a sports panel and I literally changed the channel because the guy irritates me so much.
I’m sure I’m not the only viewer who feels that way.
If ratings are important to MSNBC, and I know they are, you need to find smart, capable people (like Olbermann obviously is) who ALSO have the capacity to show more self control and professionalism. Most people don’t mind listening to people with different views but I’ll bet watching a jerk trying to be cool and thinking he’s “Mr. Witty” with his disrespectful banter makes more people change the channel than you realize. Hey, it’s your business. I’m just a former viewer who votes with my TV remote…. Wonder how your advertisers feel about that.
Amazing to read some of the above. TV/Cable/radio RULED by the right? I notice a mention of FOX and that’s about it. Why? Because CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC and NBC all lean left and have from days immemorial.
The reason FOX is so successful is that they don’t have to share their audience with ANYONE—and Keith is doing a great job of driving sound minded folk away from not only Countdown, but the entire MSNBC network.
He took Chris Matthews down with him, as Chris goes close to the line without normally crossing. But it would have been hard to yank Keith without taking Chris, so he’s another of Keith’s casualties. Hope he’s proud.
