Son of New Rochelle family on Obama team
Among the people preparing Barack Obama’s transition to the presidency is Christopher Edley Jr., a former Harvard law professor and dean of the law school at the University of California at Berkeley.
He’s the son of Christopher Edley, the former head of the United Negro College Fund. His father lived in New Rochelle before passing away in 2003. His mother Zaida Edley still lives in New Rochelle.
Edley is serving as an advisory member to the Obama transition team and served a similar role preparing then Gov. Bill Clinton’s transition to the White House.
He’ll be working with Obama’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, who got his undergrad degree studying dance (Yes, dance.) at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville. Read Noreen O’Donnell’s column detailing Emanuel’s time at the college here.
