Fight The Cuts Web Site

Citizen Action of New York has started a new website www.fightthecuts.org to petition state legislators to avoid cuts to state services.

The group will be joining other special-interest groups in Albany on Tuesday to hold a rally when lawmakers return for a special session to discuss Governor Paterson proposed $2 billion in cuts to the current fiscal year.

“The budget can’t be balanced on the backs of children and working families. Instead, we must utilize the Tax Stabilization Reserve Fund to address immediate budget shortfalls, wait for a federal relief package to help later in the fiscal year and require that the wealthiest New Yorkers share the sacrifice with the rest of us,” Citizen Action Executive Director Karen Scharff wrote in an email today.
