Malcolm Smith Writes To Obama: Don’t Forget New York

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Nov 13, 2008

Senate Minority Leader Malcolm Smith, D-Queens, wrote letters today to President-elect Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, urging them to make sure New York gets its share of any stimulus package approved by Congress.

“Congratulations on your historic victory. The thoughts and prayers of the nation are with you,” Smith wrote.

“I strongly support your encouragement of Congress to develop and pass a new stimulus package to revive our nation’s economy. Here in New York, we have lost thousands of jobs as a direct result of the financial crisis on Wall Street.

“After years of decline in the manufacturing and agricultural sectors, our Upstate cities, suburbs, towns and rural areas are facing new economic losses that we will not be able to survive without immediate federal assistance.”

It’s evident just looking at the face of Senator Smith that he has great empathy for the predominantly European-American upstate areas facing economic challenges.

I’m certain he grew up every day of his life thinking about the upstate region, and its problems.

Sorry, homey: nobody’s taking you seriously in Washington. Or Albany. And our president-elect will blow you off.

    You’re much too “ghetto.”

Is this the guy who, on the senate floor not long ago, was hollering “SHOW ME THE MONEY!” complaining about legislators’ pay?

With all the branches of the state government controlled by democrats. New Yorkers have some bad times ahead.

when the GOP runs candidates who are out of the mainstream like murtagh, you get people like smith.

Looks as though someone recently tried to throttle him by his $150. Hermes tie.

Nice expensive tie for a public servant. I make a nice living and I would not spend $150 on a tie.
