HA!...very good we have both been members since the late 70’s when malcolm was there…in fact he was the one
proposing me for membership….and in those days
the club was shall we say..”exclusive” however I was
republican and that was good enough for malcolm!!

by the way if you are looking for clubs the best way
to get the newer models is to hunt for them on ebay
they cost much less than even at the discount
golf stores and they are in great shape…..

Nope, don’t mind at all-but you’ve got to wear one of those adorable mini golf skorts :)

You and Tim ought play the Fort McNair golf course in DC – I don’t think there is a long Par 4 on it. Plus it is beautiful-you just need someone in the military to get you on it.

exactly…I still score..just not as good as when I was
younger..somehow the course seems to be getting longer
and on the back nine even if I have a great front lets
say40-41…some hole jumps up and bites me in the butt
for a double bogey..maybe two

Left hip turn is the first and most important move in golf. Without it, power is lost, and you have to be talented and strong just to get the ball out over 200 and halfway straight. The backswing really means little, in that you could actually start with the club at its top position, so long as you initiate the swing with that left knee, hip move and get that smooth weight shift. Without that turn, if you’re not very talented, tutored and strong, you never get your weight over to your left side properly. Result: no power, slices and pulls and it’s Sayonara. Golf’s a great sport, though, nonetheless. Can’t be a running back or a power forward when the years start to mount, but you can still tee it up even though you start taking strokes instead of giving them! :) And, if all else is lost, you can always do what ex-presidents do – shoot 105 and claim an 88!

you hit the nail on the head ed1..its those long par
4’s used to hit them with a 5 iron..now I might be
able to make it on a good day with the wind behind
me with a 3 wood…and speaking of hips…mine is
being repaired in january…what is it with hips
and golf?

Con: It’s those long, long par 4/ s that will be forever your bane. My Uncle who left me no King Ransom, nor even a 7 iron, was once a touring pro with whom I played weekly when he got into his 70s, and it drove him crazy that he could no longer reach the long par 4/s no matter what exotic new driver he tried. A good chipper still, he settled for a lot of 4s but mostly bogeys on those holes with the occasional double thrown in. His two hip transplants didn’t help. In his advancing years, he took long walks each day carrying a golf club which he swore preserved his magical feel. But, like you, I remember not one of his drives all those years which did not find the center of the fairway!

the ball out 225…and I am ALWAYS..in the middle..

I have no problem with men playing from the Red or women playing from the white. In fact, I have no problem with there being a universal tee position and no handicaps-just play golf and get the score you earned.

Malcolm Smith is an absolute joke, he can’t even get 3 Dems who should be celebrating the fact that they have the majority now to be on his side. New York State politics is a joke by looking at that meeting. Smith reminds me of the kid who comes to class without his homework. Dems better watch out because now you have the majority and your going to be forced to sign this bill which will tick Long Island, NYC, and Westchester off. Don’t be suprised if in 2 years the GOP takes back the Senate because of the Dems signing off on the cuts in health care and education. People like Liz Feld and John Murtaugh will capitalize on this.

I would agree with you that medicaid fraud is a problem.
But give me a breake. The Unions built NY. Workers in the United States in general are under paid. Woman in particular are paid less then men are in the same job. We need to get woman in equal par with men.

A more caring, sensitive state? Oooooo. How touchy-feely is that? The fact is that NY is the state of confusion and delusion. And there won’t be much of a state left unless the unions are finally brought into line—all of them.

And among other things, it also would help if they cracked down on all that Medicaid fraud, too.
