Mamaroneck Village bids Sirlin adieu
Mamaroneck village officials said goodbye to longtime Village Justice Roger Sirlin on Monday night, Christine Pizzuti reports:
After 28 years on the bench, Mamaroneck Village Justice Roger Sirlin will be taking his place on the bleachers, with the rest of the family men.
Sirlin plans to spend his retirement with his grandchildren and attending their athletic functions, he said Monday night at village hall, where the courtroom was packed for a retirement/birthday party in his honor.
“What a pleasure it’s been to know you and work with you — always the gentleman, always meticulous,” Mayor Kathy Savolt told Sirlin from the podium. “I think these are traits that served you well.”
Four of Sirlin’s five grandchildren attended, and held the various proclamations from village and state officials.
Sirlin, who is also a lawyer, will continue with law. He described a sense of relief upon learning he had not won re-election againstĀ Democrat Dan Gallagher, and recalled telling his wife Ellen that he will now be able to go where he wants, when he wants, without consulting the court calendar.
“I have a series of challenges ahead of me: My grandson on the tennis court and my son on the golf course,” Sirlin said.
His next move, he said, is to bring his granddaughter Kayla to see Swan Lake in Connecticut.

I have known Rodger for over 25 years..he is a gentleman
and a very good lawyer…I wish him all the best in his
retirement ..he richly deserves to enjoy the fruits of his
labors
What a great loss for the Mamaroneck. Judge Sirlin is one of the most honorable men I have ever met. He served the bench with honor, fariness and integrity. He has dedicated 28 years to Mamaroneck and the bench will not be the same without him! Men of great character are hard to find these days, but Judge Sirlin is sure one of them.
Good luck Judge Sirlin and I hope you have a happy and joyful retirement!!!!!!!!! You will be missed.
I have known Roger for 26 years, nearly his entire time on the bench. I became friends with his son, his daughter, and the whole family. Elected officials should not only be qualified to hold the post but honorable enough to lead by example. I think in all my life, no man has fit that description more than the honorable Roger Sirlin. Enjoy your retirement, I know you have your work cut out for you both on the court and on the course.
I found him to be a big douche. He handled a real estate transaction for me and he messed it up. This is my opinion.
