Local donors to the Obama transition

Posted by: Brian Tumulty - Posted in Barack Obama on Dec 01, 2008

Local donors from Westchester are among the 1,776 people who have written checks for up to $5,000 to help to pay for President-elect Barack Obama’s transition organization.

The $1.17 million received by Obama-Biden Transition ranged from as little as $5 from a woman in Coco Beach, Fla. who works at a Bob Evans restaurant to $5,000 from well-heeled residents of northern Westchester.

Among the local donors with last names ending with the letters from A to L are: attorney Alexander Aghayan of White Plains, $1,000; Deenie Brosens of Bedford, $5,000; Frank Brosens of Bedford, $5,000; Chris Carucci of Tarrytown, $50; Mindy Chettih of Hastings-on-Hudson, $300; Eric Fisher of White Plains, $250; Sunny Goldberg of Mamaroneck, $200; Bernard Kroll of Scarsdale, $100; Andrew Lack of Bronxville, $5,000; and Elizabeth Lack of Bronxville, $5,000.

Like sending coals to Newcastle, now, isn’t it?

Let’s track these people when appintments are made, yes?

The most vulgar thing about the election past is the amount of money raised and spent in behalf of candidates for the presidency. How much? Maybe a billion and a half. (One billion between McCain and Obama alone; another half billion in behalf of the losers for their nomination(s).)

How much to BUY the presidency? I only wish Teddy White were still alive to write about it.
