More on judges: Paterson will appoint a man

Cuomo and Paterson, as expected, said today they want to look into the process by which the names of the potential chief judges were gathered by a nominating committee. They’re upset no women were on the list to fill the vacancy on the court, which now has four women and three men.
“It seems highly unusual that in a class of seven individuals considered to be capable of supervising the Court of Appeals not one of them would be a woman,’’ Paterson said. “I just don’t see how that’s possible.’’
But Paterson put to rest the possibility that he would not appoint someone or demand more names or somehow try to scuttle the process.

There are many eminent female jurists: Juanita BIng-Newton and Carment Ciparick of the Court of Appeals. Hey guys it is 2008 not 1958. It is insulting that not one woman was chosen. What was the criteria?
It is inspiring that Gov. Paterson will appoint a man—a member of a minority group.
As for “pgalore” (an old James Bond character?), go back and read Roman Hruska on judicial appointments, circa 1970.
