December
17

Caroline Kennedy is quietly making an upstate swing today, visiting leaders in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, officials said this morning.

Democratic officials in the cities were notified that Kennedy would be visiting with leaders, including with the mayors of Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse. She is expected in Rochester later in the day.

Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy talked to Kennedy on Tuesday about a potential visit, but Duffy this morning said he could not disclose details about the visit.

“She was very nice and very gracious and said she was coming up to Rochester at some point,” he said.

A Kennedy spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment.

Kennedy aides have indicated in recent days that she would visiting upstate as a way to gain support with upstate voters as she seeks to win the support of Gov. David Paterson, who will select the successor to Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Senate.
