A breath of fresh air. We can only hope.

  2. the consultant

I thought rob did very well on phil’s show today,..
he obviously has thought a lot about the issues
and he even mentioned andrew cuomos attempt to allow
municipalities to merge..so he is going in the right direction…One thing does concern me however about this
anti county movement chaired by paul feiner …and that is
this, and phil reisman raised it as well, sam zherka publisher of the guardian newspaper which employs as its
editor the former campaign manager for tony castro who lost
two da’s races and is contemplating a primary challenge to
janet difiore, has injected himself into the issue..He
has announced that HE IS CALLING A RALLEY FOR APRIL..
He is making it appear that the group is supporting
his efforts and that he is a part of the group….Feiner
and grownowski need to make clear that this is not
the case….because the invovlement of someone like
sam zherka who alleges that he is under investigation
for drug dealing in manhattan county should not be
given an opportunity to use this kind of forum for
his own agenda. many wirters for a number of news papers
are following this closely and are well aware that
he is attempting to hijack the effort…we need a firm
statment from Feiner that Zherka is not on the steering
committee and that Feiners group is in no way connected
    to zherka

  3. yonkers

    edelman give it break

  4. the consultant

no breaks until the lawsuit is withdrawn.,,.in fact
i intend to follow zherka around to expose his methods
and his agenda..watch me…you ain’t seen nothing yet

  5. the consultant

and yonkers you haven’t got a clue…you arent the one
being sued…you arent the one having lies stated
in a court affidavit…this son of a bitch is not
going to intimidate.me..not going to happen.he
made the wrong choice when he named me in his lawsuit
he can sue all the public officials he wants but he
bit off a lot more than he can chew

  6. nonaubiz

When Strip Club Sam is involved in anything, then nobody should “give it a break”.

Strip Club Sam is not just suing Mike but is involved in dozens of frivolous lawsuits against various towns as well as other individuals and he is using Lovett to do so. Let’s not forget to mention the lawsuits against towns and government organizations that his lawyer Lovett is involved in “independently” but are supported by Strip Club Sam in his loony newspaper, all at cost in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to innocent citizens.

My gosh, Strip Club Sam and his lawyer, Lovett sued the library, and lost, then claimed they won. OMG, can there be worse people in the world for a politician to be in bed with than Zherka, Blassberg and Lovett? (Somebody might want to ask Robertson about that, if anyone knows what rat hole he is hiding in these days).

The utter waste of money and time that Strip Club Sam and his lawyer Lovett cost the community is staggering. Their political agenda is plain evil in my opinion.

As far as Feiner being too close to Strip Club Sam that ship has sailed, my friend. Just the notion that Paul allows himself to be in the same room with this person should be grounds for removal from town service in my opinion.

How anyone could take Paul Feiner seriously as he works to end county government while he stands next to a strip club owner who is suing New York City for millions and millions (and millions) of dollars for enforcing parking regulations (which he claims is costing his strip club money) is beyond ridiculous.

Clearly I think I know why Strip Club Sam wants no government, but that causes Paul’s message about fiscal issues to be not only lost but preposterous. I can’t imagine a mother of daughters wanting a thing to do with Paul Feiner, friend and ally of Strip Club Sam.

What will we will learn next, that Paul Feiner supports the Riddler for Mayor of Gotham City?

  7. the consultant

looks like sam is loosing some support..doesn’t it…
time to defrock him…watch me work

  8. SAM ZHERKA

Mike Edelman, I am involved in the movement to abolish county govt. I am involved with every Westchester County citizen who feels like they have been ripped off, who are tired of being enslaved to high taxes, who have been taken advantage of,mistreated, betrayed, lied to by this Predatory County Governement and their political hacks such as Mike Edleman and CO.

The days of run away government in Westchester County is coming to an end. Thy will answer to the people in one way or another.

As far as your bogus investigation, as i say all the time, I will crush you all in court. The Truth is the Ultimate Defense. Spin is not going to get you out of this one Mike.

Creating a bogus investigation, to ruin someone in order to silence free speech and press is unlawful and the public sees right through all your pathetic rhetoric.

ALl you and your Political freinds did was make me alot wealthier than I already am. Your rumors, slanderous, defamatory comments have been read by hundreds and possibly thousands.
Tell your story to the hundreds of fan mail the Westchester Guardian and I receive every single week for the past 10 months.
As i always said in the past, by the time im done with you and the other hacks who have attempted to tarnish my name, I will own you.

Now, I Sam Zherka am inviting Mike Edelman to join thousands of good, hardworking Westchester Citizens to support whats right, against whats wrong. If you dare show up, it will show that you are a half decent person. If you do not show up it just proves my point that you are a low down corrupt oppurtunist political hack who stands for nothing more than SPIN.

I will even give you a three minute time slot to address the public on stage.

JOIN THOUSANDS OF WESTCHESTER RESIDENTS AT A RALLY IN WHITE PLAINS TO ABOLISH COUNTY GOVERNMENT
    SATURDAY APRIL 25TH 12NOON – 3PM
IN FRONT OF THE COUNTY OFFICE BUILDING
148 MARTINS AVE. WHITE PLAINS NY.

    GUEST SPEAKERS
    SAM ZHERKA
    PAUL FEINER,
    GLEN HOCKLEY
    WHITE PLAINS MAYOR JOE DELFINO
    IND CHAIRMAN DR GUILIO CAVALLO
    MT VERNON MAYOR CLINTON YOUNG
    DENNIS ROBERTSON

MANY MORE JOINING THE CAUSE AND WILL BE ADDED INCLUDING NYS ASSEMBLYMEN AND WOMAN, MAYORS AND SUPERVISORS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTY.

    sam zherka

  9. Many more?

... including NYS Assemblymen. Gosh, could it be that Greg Ball might show up. How can he resist a moment in the spotlight? Other than Saturday Night Live, he’s had nothing to press release on in a while. Notice how he appears to be working on more issues just before the elections?

  10. Confusion in the Craft

Feiner, Delfino and Young are more prodigious taxers than even Andy and Boss Hog, if that’s possible. I’m all for the revolution, but I’m perplexed by the apparent hypocrisy of some of the supposed speakers.

  11. Confused 2

As a matter of fact, Young just came from the County Board, and was integral in its becoming the arrogant, big spending group that it is. In fact, the people up there are his mentors. He was the vice-chairman and the majority leader! You won’t see him at this rally, bucking the machine that created him. Ten to one odds he soon tells you to remove his name.

  12. the consultant

that is very kind of you to invite me sam…but
I personally believe that the problem is a lot deeper
than what your group makes it out to be…and julio
cavalo is in no position to be a sponsor since he
endorsed andy spano last time…over rob astorino
who was advocating smaller government even then,,
and sam..how in the world you could actually believe
that the manhattan da’s office would investigate
you based on me is hard to believe…it makes a lot
more sense to believe that you named me in your lawsuit
just for poltical payback…since you supported robertson
and i worked for amicone…and you support castro
and i don;t…you need to know that i have never met
spoken to or communicated with bogdanos in any way
nor did i speak with any of the defendants you named

about a grand jury investigation prior to your revealing in your lawsuit that you were under investigation. and
I will take a lie detector test to prove it…In fact
I happen to sympathsize with you if it fact you are
being investigated without any reason..but I will have
to wait for the grand jury to speak on that subject
since the manhattan da has indicated one is sitting
presently..now back to the subject of the rally
the problem is not thecounty..the problem is the
layers of smaller governments like villages and towns
all of whom have their own boards of ed…police
courts, etc…the county only accounts for 18% of our
tax bill..the rest of the 82% is local stuff…so
you may be correct about the size of the county execs
    staff and his public relationsoperation…thanks
to your friend julio cavalo who gave us andy spano
and you may be correct that the legislative branch
is bloated as well…see bill ryan and gary kris
but to solve the problem of high property taxes
you need to examine the entire structure of all
    governments in westchester…

    have a happy holiday
    mike edelman

  13. the consultant

and to address your point of “creating a bogus investigation” it is just as wrong to initiate a lawsuit
accusing someone of creating a bougus investigation
simply because they worked for two of your poltical
opponents..what about my health and my family….
you don’t seem to really care about anything but
your own ego and what you are involved in…I can
prove and I will prove that not only did I have
nothing whatever to do with the manhattan county
da’s investigation but I didn’t even learn about
it until you put it in your lawsuit…now either
you are totally being misled by your friend richard
blassberg who is not a lawyer and who reaches
irrational conclusions based on a conspiratorial
mindset..or you are simply nasty..but I can give
as good as I can take…and all the medical bills
I have accumulated as the result of this lawsuit
as well as my wifes..you will pay for in spades
when it is all done..remember sam…truth is a complete
    defense

  14. Patty Sullivan

    Mr. Zherka,

Thousands upon thousands of residents DO stand with you and thank YOU for leading this fight!

BUT don’t diminish your event by having Greg Ball there. He’s publicly called your paper “a rag” and has voted over to burden Westchester County with unfunded mandates, instead of shifting more power to NYS and away from the County. Keep him far away!

GOOD JOB! Keep up the good work!

    Patty Sullivan
    Somers, N.Y.

  15. the consultant

I think if you check with the committee formed by
supervisor feiner and councilwoman grownoski they
will confirm that sam zherka is not an organizer
nor a sponsor in any way of their group..he may
be a supporter but has no leadership role whatever
and has attended no meetings. As for greg ball’s interest
as an elected official who just won an election don’t
you think his voice is important

  16. JPP

IT’S IRRESPONSIBLE FOR BALL TO FOCUS ON COUNTY GOVERNMENT AND SCAPEGOAT THEM WHILE NEW YORK STATE IS IN HORRIBLE FISCAL AND ECONOMIC CONDITION. HE’S VOTED TO INCREASE STATE SPENDING BY THE MILLIONS AND HE’S SUBMITTED $300,000 WORTH OR PORK PROJECTS. HE IS NO FISCAL CONSERVATIVE AND CERTAINLY IS NOT AN AUTHORITY ON CUTTING SPENDING OR IMPROVING THE ECONOMY. HAVING BALL AT THIS RALLY WILL TURN IT INTO A CIRCUS.

  17. the consultant

I really don’t care who goes to the ralley…but
if sam zherka is putting it together ..along with
julio cavalo the independence party leader…then
it should be very interesting don’t you think,
considering that mr cavalo endorsed andy spano
last time around along with how many of the currently
    serving countly legislators…

  18. PAUL FEINER

I have been involved in the effort to abolish or downsize county government since 1990 when I wrote an op-ed for the regional section of the NY TIMES. I was a Westchester County Legislator at the time and started the article by suggesting that my job be eliminated. This effort should not be based on personalities—if county government is abolished it will stay abolished long after the current list of elected officials and civic leaders are out of office. The question people should ask is this: can we maintain much of our quality of life at reduced costs? If we eliminate county government (as Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island have done) will taxpayers save money? Rethinking Westchester is not about me. It’s not about Andy Spano. It’s not about Delfino, Young, Hockley, Zherka or Mike Edelman. It’s about a concept—that we could get more for less government.
I encourage the consultant—Mike Edelman—to support an independent study to determine if this concept will result in taxpayer savings.

  19. peter

greg ball’s voice is not important because he is a hypocrite. i work for putnam county and i have first-hand knowledge of the unfunded mandates passed down to the counties that assm. ball voted for. that forced the county to increase spending for these mandated programs or cut real services. i think many people disagree with abolishing county government altogether. the goal, i think, is to make it leaner and more efficient and abdicating more responsibility back to the towns/villages/cities and even new york state. what ball did by voting for the mandates, both funded and unfunded, primarily the latter, is to shift more control to the counties forcing them to increase their budgets and the size and scope of their responsibilities. ball is bob bondi’s, andy spano’s and bill ryan’s wet-dream, he keeps putting more on their plate so that they can justify their raises and spending increases. for ball to now stand at an event and claim he is all for reducing the size of county government would be hypocritical. but what else is new? and besides, why is ball involving himself again at the county level. he spent 5 months in 2007 attacking the putnam county government offering up no solutions and even passing another unfunded mandate for counties all while rome (albany) burned. if he wanted to deal with county government he should have campaigned for county executive or the county board not state assembly…

  20. the consultant

I would be more than pleases to support an
independent study..but not one that is led by
sam zherka ..who has the right to support the effort
just as any citizen doesn..but he is hijacking the
effort by announcing that the april ralley is being
run by him…has his name and that of julio cavalo
listed as featured speakers..in fact his name
is listed first..he is claiming credit for the
group..as the poster above has demonstrated right
on the nose..this is not the guy that the county
should want to be out front on this effort…and
should the executive committee not make it clear
that zherka does not speak for them…i can guarantee
that the effort which is well worthwhile will be viewed
    as a circus

  21. Liz Anderson

OK folks, this discussion has gone off point. Please wrap it up. Thanks.

  22. the guardian

greg ball has not called the guardian a rag.. greg ball loves the guardian, and zherka.. the guardian loves greg ball.. thats why it is trash

  23. get over it

    Hey Liz

Get over it – the discussion is still focused on county government.

And I guess you don’t wnat to hear what people have to say about Zherka – so why did you post his email on another blog? Adding fuel to the fire? Is that what lohud blog- meisters are supposed to do?

  24. The Consultant's Masseuse

I agree with Peter. When Albany is cleaned up then Greg Ball has the time to focus on other issues. But criticizing others while his own house is not in order is bad form for an elected official.

Where is the outrage from Greg Ball over Gov. Paterson’s proposed tax and spend plans? He’s silent except to defend the Governor against Saturday Night Live. Just like he did with Spitzer, Ball is trying to ride on the Governor’s wave of popularity until the wave crashes and then he’ll tell us he never really supported anyway.

Sounds like Obama and Ball have something in common.

  25. Donkey Darling

    You guys are nutz.
