Ball on Paterson’s budget

January
7

Gov. Paterson is just about a couple of hours away from his State of the State speech this afternoon. As he contends with trying to ease the state’s fiscal pain, state Assemblyman Greg Ball, R-Patterson, had the following to say about Paterson’s fiscal plan.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 6, 2009

GOV, LEAVE STAR ALONE…SHAKE UP THIS LEGISLATURE!!

A Statement from Assemblyman Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson)

My message to the Governor is clear, we cannot tax our way out of this hole. The Governor continues to push a large agenda and has clearly missed the mark with his Executive Budget Proposal which proposes to raise taxes on New Yorkers by an average of $3,875 per taxpayer annually.

On top of this, the Governor is proposing to eliminate tax relief, by decreasing the property tax exemption and eliminating the Middle Class STAR Rebate Program. Coupled with the Governor’s $3.1 billion in new taxes and fee hikes, this Governor’s assault on STAR is going to be personally responsible for even more New Yorker’s leaving this state and being taxed out of their homes.

Moreover, by cutting education and high tax aids for schools as well as doing nothing to fund Albany’s excessive unfunded mandates (including $7.4 million in Medicaid mandates), the Governor is passing along millions of dollars in increased local taxes, especially in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess. We need a Governor who can make tough decisions in order to get New York back on track.

This legislature is chronically addicted to runaway spending and this Governor must bring real leadership to the table. With talk of federal gasoline taxes being raised, the devastating loss of jobs on Wall Street and throughout New York, we must start by balancing our budget, cutting spending fairly, and across the board, and leveraging our relationship with the federal government to begin getting our fair share of funding for homeland security dollars and infrastructure spending.

As my colleagues and I continue to negotiate a final state budget, I will be adamant that taxpayers, of all socio-economic stripes, are not bearing the brunt of this financial crisis and will continue to hold the line against new taxes and fees that hurt New Yorkers at home.

Here’s more criticisms about Paterson’s proposed budget.

  1. RECAP

    Leibell 74,537 (49%)
    Blank/WI 75,868 (51%)

The last time Leibell ran unopposed in this district during a Presidential Year, blanks accounted for 36%

Finally someone is speaking up for the taxpayers.

You can say that again. Unfortunately, in NY, a voice in the wilderness. And by the way, those devastating job losses won’t be confined to Wall Street, as we will all soon find out.

  4. JUST WORDS

These are just more words from Ball that sound good to readers to make people believe he really cares. DONT BELIEVE IT.

  5. Matt N.

A complete fabrication designed to endear himself to the sheep who vote for him and his cronies: the red guard.

This scum is Stalin in disguise. His reign of terror will probably leave just as many dead but his popularity will live on. Our society is sick if this type if dirtbag elevates himself on lies, hate, blackmail, ponzi schemes, illegal money laundering, improper use of state equipment and services, intimidation, theft of services, illegal financial transactions and God knows what else.

Just like all the NY politicians he can get away with all this because noone has the stones to take him on.

The Attorney General’s office needs to do an investigation and end this “career” before anyone else gets hurt!
