Congress embraces YouTube. Will you?

January
12

How’s this for outreach?

Congress has struck a deal with YouTube to establish as Web site allowing the politically uninitated the opportunity to connect with their representative. Just look at a map of the United States and click your state.

Each senator and House member can participate. The sites are located at:

http://youtube.com/househub

http://youtube.com/senatehub

Only a few members of the New York delegation are participating—Sen. Chuck Schumer and five of the state’s 29 House members.

But their sites haven’t been getting much traffic. Schumer’s statement on the economic recovery package that Congress is working on had only 22 views as of 6 p.m. His statement on working with President-elect Barack Obama had only 3. And Chuck’s thought about the nation’s energy policies had 4 viewers.

You can help Schumer increase his Web traffic by checking out his YouTube page at: http://www.youtube.com/user/senatorschumer

Perhaps not surprisingly, none of the House members from the Hudson Valley are participating in this new venture.
