Suozzi to talk taxes, caps in Croton

January
12

Assemblywoman Sandy Galef is hosting a public meeting with Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi about property tax relief from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 at Croton Village Hall, Croton Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck, Croton-on-Hudson.

Suozzi is chairman of the New York State Commission on Property Tax Relief. The commission was charged with finding the causes of New York State’s very high and rapidly escalating property taxes and recommending ways to reduce the burden of these taxes.

“The commission was given a very challenging task,” Galef said in a statement. “They were extremely thorough, holding hearings and soliciting feedback throughout the state. I believe they are on target with their recommendations. Now, the hard work is getting support within the Legislature and from the public to move forward with these recommendations. I look forward to the public joining me at this forum for a lively discussion and to get a better understanding of the thinking behind the recommendations.”

For information, call Galef’s office at 914-941-1111. The meeting is open to the public.

  1. enough

The dog and pony show again. What we need is action. Enough with thr forums.

  2. stop the meetings

The problem is, we can not afford are property taxes anymore. We need to do something about them. No more public meetings are needed.

  3. ed1

This is so obvious that it has become clear that the State politicians have no real interest in solving this problem, but rather choose to give three downs of lip service to assuage an outraged public, and then punt and retire to the sidelines, hoping the problems will miraculously disappear. There will be a virtual tsunami of certiorari proceedings nation-wide. In the end, these amateur Einsteins will simply reasess properties or change assessed valuations and raise assessment rates. They are incapable of finding any other viable solution.
