Senators comment on Geithner

January
13

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus has issued a statement in support of Timothy Geithner’s nomination to serve as treasury secretary despite the problems that were found during the vetting process.

Baucus, a Montana Democrat, will chair Geithner’s confirmation hearing.

“I am disappointed in the errors found in Tim Geithner’s tax returns and other information, but I am satisfied that Mr. Geithner has taken the steps necessary to fix these problems,’’ stated Baucus. “That’s why I intend to move forward as soon as possible with a hearing on his nomination. The president-elect needs a treasury secretary on day one. We have to roll up our sleeves and get this economy moving again for the American people.’‘

Sen. Chuck Schumer, who plans to introduce the Mamaroneck resident whenever the hearing is held, also issued a statement of continued support.

“Tim came to the committee, admitted he had made some mistakes and was very contrite,’’ stated Schumer. “In my opinion, these mistakes were not at all disqualifying. I continue to strongly support his nomination and given the tough economic conditions, hope we can confirm him as quickly as possible.’‘

Update at 7:10 p.m.: The hearing has tentatively been set for Friday.

WAIT A MINUTE THESE ARE NOT ERRORS ON A TAX RETURN
WHEN YOU ARE SELF EMPLOYED YOU PAY THE TOTAL PAYROLL
TAXES DUE…YOU DO NOT HAVE AN EMPLOYER AND THEREFORE
YOU PAY ALL OF IT…HE HAD TO KNOW THAT…AND SO DID
HIS ACCOUNTANTS..BUT FOR A MAN WHO IS PAID BY THE GOVERNMENT
SAVING 7000 A YEAR IN NON REPORTED INCOME IS A LOT…ITS
ONE OF THOSE PLACES WHERE ONLY A PERSON WHO KNOWS ABOUT
THE DEDUCTION COULD OMIT IT…HE IS NOW NOT ELIGIBLE
TO BE THE HEAD OF THE TREASURY

I cannot believe that Obama is bringing in every crooked SOB he can find. There is no conflict of interest with the Clinton’s receiving millions of dollars from foreign countries. He want Geithner to run the IRS, when the cheat can’t even pay his own taxes? Or he paid them soon as he found out Obama wanted him in his cabinet, oh & how can he not know his cleaner was not here illegally? I cannot believe that these crooks are being put in control of anything> They have already drained our SS what’s going to happen to the money we put in the IRS??? Come on people wake up.
