Paterson Off To Switzerland
Governor Paterson is getting criticized for heading off to Davos, Switzerland, later this week for a world economic summit.
The trip comes on the heels of what is widely seen as Paterson’s botched selection process for the U.S. Senate seat and as the state faces a $15 billion deficit—which Paterson hoped to have legislators chip away at by Feb. 1.
His aides said over the weekend that “The Governor will travel to Davos, Switzerland for Friday and Saturday of next week to attend and participate in the World Economic Forum. He looks forward to leading a discussion on U.S. governmental and private sector economic issues as well as participating in numerous panels on a range of topics including financial services, clean energy and environmental sustainability. Governor Paterson also plans to discuss how the global financial crisis has affected New York State and his leadership on this issue, with a small group of governors, to partner with the federal government on a federal stimulus package.”
But leaders are questioning the trip and what Paterson has to do with world economic issues, especially after Paterson spent much of last week in Washington for the presidential inauguration. He also spent late October in the Caribbean.

This guy is toast. He had his chance to go directly to the people, ala The Gipper, and force the recalcitrants in Albany to shape up. He has accomplished less than zero. As Pataki did, he has surrounded himself with nit-witted, inept operatives and idiots. He’s squandered his credibility. The wolves are at the door, and the door is ajar.
If he can only beat giuliani by 2 points at this point
and with andy cuomo apparently promising he will not
primary him patterson will not be the next governor
