(Nick) Spano, Albany lobbyist
Former state Senator Nick Spano says he going to lobby lawmakers now that he is no longer one of them.
On his Web site, nickspano.com, the long-time Yonkers Republican and political heavyweight said he “will be working for clients who are trying to navigate through the system at the capitol.”
His company is called Empire Strategic Planning. It was started after he lost to Andrea Stewart-Cousins, but state law prohibited him from lobbying for two years. Because that time has passed, Spano’s ready to get back to work in Albany.
The company’s Albany operations will be run by his former staffer, Maureen Kronau.

GOOD LUCK NICK…YOU ARE A LOT BETTER OFF THAN
IF YOU HAD WON BACK YOUR SENATE SEAT…BECAUSE VOTERS
BY AND LARGE ARE TOTALLY UNGRATEFUL..
Nick knows the state system well and will represent his clients effectively.
Interesting that he, like D’Amato, now shows up for Democratic functions so that they can crank- out dough no matter what the issues are or where truth lies. Though there are no book stores left in Yonkers (a city with of population of over 200,000 – what does that tell you,) there must be a few old paperbacks by Machiavelli still floating around.
Ed1, makes some good points.
The Senate Republican Majority tilted so far left to help Nicky keep his seat that once it fell over after he lost, they could never get back up.
If the Plaza Grill had cameras back in 1990, Nicky and many others could never get jobs again in Albany…but it didn’t and they will thrive.
hey look, i don’t approve of lobbyists under any circumstances but they are perfectly permitted to do
what they do….and until we change the system
to prevent special interests from attempting to
influence legislation by arguing for or against it
through lobbying…then nick is entitled to earn
a living…
I, for one, am tired of politicians “earning a living” lobbying (read unethical influence, often to the detriment of the taxpayer and justice in general) either on the federal or the state level, the very people he or she controlled, did favors for, or still does political favors for. Too many of these noble as_wipes, too, end up taking big, big jobs with companies whom they were supposedly regulating while they were in office. They are hired because they still maintain unethical influence with the regulative body that they headed. You say they are entitled to “make a living.” How about adding “honest” between the last two words of that banal excuse for double-dealing? Just because something is not literally against the law does not mean it is ethical. Anybody remember ethics, or is that just something we explain to our children while disregarding them ourselves in the interest of “making a living?”
And another thing, I have more respect for an illegal immigrant wandering around today with a snow shovel trying to “make a living” than I do any of these political vampires.
This guarantees one thing. Nick’s political career is done. Lobbyists can’t run for office anymore. At least there is that.
Here’s another guarantee.
Nick will be successful for his people. Just like always. A winner is a winner.
Good for him. Here’s hoping he enjoys his shrimp cocktails and Jaguars. He should try not to get any cocktail sauce on his $125 tie.
Say what you want…but Nick was around the capitol fighting for State $$$ to support Westchester Police patrols on the parkway. He’s doin’ the right thing.
I’m curious to find out what blog system you happen to be utilizing? I’m experiencing some minor security issues with my latest blog and I would like to find something more safe. Do you have any recommendations?
yes my recommendation is you stop trying to resurrect a thread under the guise of being
interested in security
